Wang De Dao is Wang tribe elder and experienced strategist who advises Wang tribe leader against joining the Bei, Zheng, and Pei alliance.
Right after Bei Cao Sheng leaves Wang tribe’s hall, a thin yellowish faced man with three strands of beard and sharp bright eyes enters: Wang tribe leader’s competent assistant, Wang tribe elder Wang De Dao, an experienced strategist. He asks whether Wang tribe will really join Bei tribe’s alliance, then eases when the tribe leader says no. ch. 478

Counsel against the alliance
He reads Bei, Pei, and Zheng as mid scale tribes trying to curry favor with Liu Wen Wu through Yan tribe ties while pushing Wang tribe to share the risk, and he argues that preserving strength for the Imperial Court struggle should come first. He states that missing Imperial Court leaves Wang tribe open to blizzard ruin, while entering it offers recovery and a later chance at Imperial Court rulership. His plan is to entertain Bei Cao Sheng, decline the alliance tactfully after three days, and secretly letter Ge tribe with goodwill and warning so the two sides fight while Wang tribe watches. ch. 478
After Ge tribe strikes
Reading the battle report, he calls Chang Shan Yin daring, ferocious, and ruthless, and he treats Ge tribe’s surprise attack as breaking unspoken rules among the tribes. Ge Guang’s letter on Yan tribe and Chang Shan Yin’s old grudges leaves him more furious; he still asks what Wang tribe should do next, then reminds the tribe leader that Bei tribe’s alliance elder is still hosted there on the third day. ch. 484
