Man Duo is Man tribe leader Man Tu's third son, named when Ge Yao refuses his marriage proposal in Northern Plains.
Ge Yao tells Fang Yuan she fled because Man Duo wanted to marry her. She calls him thin and small like a monkey, ill, only rank two, tyrannical through his father, and without heroic spirit, while Man tribe’s betrothal gifts and a promised fertile grassland pushed her father to accept. She also claims he fell for her at first sight from afar and had his father propose. ch. 427

Marriage pressure and aptitude
A month later, Ge Yao’s death is finally discovered. Narration then frames Man Duo as Man tribe leader’s third son who fell in love with her at first sight and had been demanding her. Ge Guang reports that Man Duo brought Man tribe experts to challenge Ge tribe over handing her over, refused to believe she was dead, killed the tribe’s third elder, and injured others, including Ge Guang himself. ch. 443 At a banquet with Man and Ge leaders present, he produces chase smoke Gu, saying he stained Ge Yao with it when he first saw her, and presses Ge tribe to prove she is not hidden in their camp. ch. 447 Fang Yuan later names that night a moonlight banquet where three sides competed while hiding lethal weapons. ch. 449 Man Tu later tells him he is only C grade in aptitude, that his talent is insufficient for succession, and that he must assist his elder brother when Man Tu retires; Man Duo agrees aloud while refusing that fate in his heart and mourning the lost Ge Yao marriage as a path to Ge tribe power. ch. 448
Fang Yuan’s reading of the same struggle is that Man Duo wanted the tribe leader seat, lacked cultivation to take it alone, and meant to bind Ge tribe through marriage so he could fight for that seat, while Man Tu supported the match out of interest in devouring Ge tribe. ch. 449
Schemes against Ge tribe
Watching Ge tribe depart, he asks why Man Tu also gave them fifteen hundred tonnes of provisions, then accepts the explanation that wolf lure Gu and waiting wolf groups are meant to force a rescue and assimilation. His own worry is that Wolf King Chang Shan Yin may stop those wolves. ch. 450
After the night wolf battle
After Man tribe fails to take Ge tribe despite heavy force, he waits with Man Tu through the night for battlefield news, then proposes spreading rumors to drive a wedge between Ge tribe and Chang Shan Yin once Chang Shan Yin has subdued the night wolf king. Man Tu answers that the plan is already useless because the old Ge tribe leader has died under that night wolf king and Ge Guang has succeeded him. Man Duo asks whether they still have a chance and later asks what to do with the third wind wolf wave; Man Tu orders the luring to continue. ch. 458
Hong Yan valley blizzard
During the ten year blizzard at Hong Yan valley, narration names him Man Tu’s third son again: thin and small, shrewd and crafty, and already assisting Man Tu with internal affairs. He reports remaining spirit springs, escorts elder Shi Wu to take a spring egg Gu from the warehouse, and explains how a rank three Gu Master must use lasting Gu and continuing Gu to plant it. ch. 554 He later inspects the nearly cracked spring egg Gu with Shi Wu and lies to calm him about Hong Yan valley growing colder before flying hand snow forces him to call Gu Masters to protect the Gu. ch. 555
