Man Hao is a Man tribe elder who explains Man Tu's wolf lure ambush on Ge tribe and dismisses Chang Shan Yin as a weak Old Wolf King.
When Ge tribe leaves and Man Duo questions the gift of provisions, Man Tu tells Elder Man Hao to explain. Man Hao laughs and says the tribe leader planned it: wolf lure Gu sit in the provisions, tribesmen wait ahead, and three myriad wolf groups wait in ambush so Ge tribe cannot leave easily. He sighs that Ge tribe would suffer great losses and that Man tribe’s gains from taking them over would fall, and that Man tribe might even spend resources on the injured. When Man Duo worries about Wolf King Chang Shan Yin, Man Hao answers with disdain that Chang Shan Yin’s fame is over twenty years old, that his cultivation is only rank four initial stage, and that a secret banquet check found his soul dropped from thousand man soul to hundred man soul. He calls him a weak, barely surviving Old Wolf King with only three thousand wolves against three ten-thousand wolf groups, and says Man tribe can prepare to devour Ge tribe. ch. 450
Watching the wolf battle
On a nameless hill he conceals himself with other Man tribesmen and smiles when the battle starts, taking joy in Ge tribe’s calamity. He flatters Man Tu’s eldest son Man Hong as young tribe leader, pledges allegiance as a zealous supporter, and confirms that the Gu Master subduing a hundred wolf king is Chang Shan Yin. ch. 451 When Man Hong’s expression sinks after Chang Shan Yin subdues hundred wolf kings, Man Hao consoles that a hundred man soul can subdue those kings but that the outcome still depends on wolf manipulation skill. ch. 452 He and Man Hong turn grave when Chang Shan Yin makes a larger move. ch. 453 Later he loses color with Man Hong as Chang Shan Yin’s wolves expand, then shows astonishment at the wolf manipulation that plays the myriad wolf king, and absent-mindedly mutters “Wolf King” after earlier contempt, feeling the weight of that name. ch. 454
