Intense Battle (1/3)
The camp cheers Chang Shan Yin, and both tribes’ Gu Masters watch Fang Yuan. He has just subdued a hundred wolf king and made several hundred turtleback wolves his own, making that stretch of the battlefield safe. Fang Yuan sees the tens of thousands of wolves as presents, since subduing their wolf kings would make his strength surge. Ge tribe’s earth walls, water canals and united hearts favour the defense, and he leads the formation to another area. ch. 452
A hundred wolf king that has toppled an arrow tower fights a dozen rank two Gu Masters alone, with three Gu Master corpses nearby. Fang Yuan arrives on a hump wolf and uses a rank two wolf enslavement Gu, which turns into light smoke and lands on the king. He suppresses its resistance with his hundred man soul, making it his personal pet at once. A healing Gu Master tends its wounds. Ge Can, whose brother it killed, still wants to attack, but Ge Guang stops him. Ge Can kicks the beast without killing it, weeps, and returns to the fight. ch. 452
In the northwest, three hundred wolf kings have broken through the earth walls. Fang Yuan announces himself as Wolf King Chang Shan Yin and, with Ge Guang beside him, takes command of all the Gu Masters. He sends group one to lure the left hundred wolf king to the second line of defense and group two to restrict the right one and destroy its defensive Gu, then takes group three into battle. One wolf king still has a firelight Gu and burns the smoke away, costing him a rank two wolf enslavement Gu. He leaves that king to Ge Guang and enslaves another whose defensive Gu is already destroyed. Once Ge Guang seals the firelight king’s mouth with vines, Fang Yuan enslaves it and then the one at the second line. ch. 452
Everyone follows his commands, which bring the fewest injuries and deaths. Outside the battlefield, eldest son Man Hong watches through an investigative Gu worm, his expression sinking. Man Hao consoles him that a hundred man soul can subdue hundred wolf kings, but the outcome depends on wolf manipulation skill. Fang Yuan sits and holds two primeval stones to recover. Enslavement costs little primeval essence but burdens his soul, which turns impatient and impulsive and risks dizziness or damage. After meditating, his hundred man soul stabilizes and the negative emotions vanish. ch. 452
He rides on, and by the end of the circuit he has subdued three hundred wolf kings and eight hundred ordinary turtleback wolves. This angers a thousand wolf king, which leads its wolf group at him. Killing it takes at least three cooperative Gu Master groups. Ge Guang is the only rank three Gu Master among mostly rank two elites, but three Ge tribe elders arrive to help, as agreed with the higher-ups. Two elders are mildly injured in the intense battle before Fang Yuan finds his opening and fuses a rank three wolf enslavement Gu into its soul over a dozen breaths. Its two hundred wolf kings and several thousand wolves switch sides, so this part of the battlefield stops fighting. ch. 452
Only around fifteen thousand wolf kings are in the entire group, and Fang Yuan has taken one. The myriad wolf king senses something amiss and howls, sending a huge four-leaf windblade at Fang Yuan. A clan elder crashes a three claw water dragon into it, the windblade shaves the rock from the second elder’s fist stone Gu, and the third elder’s lightning web weakens it until it dissipates. Fang Yuan does nothing throughout. Ge tribe’s Gu Masters guard him even though he is a rank four Gu Master, since enslavement path Gu Masters’ lives are extremely important, as a norm of the Gu Master world. ch. 452
