Chapter 1949

Five Elements Grandmaster activates Five Rotational Destruction, and a five colored ring rises to absorb killer moves and even desolate beasts. Heavenly Court’s defensive line falls into chaos. Duke Long drops Shi Miao and uses dragon gate to approach Fang Yuan. Shi Miao smiles strangely, melts, and covers Duke Long’s body to pin him. Fang Yuan fires the second, third and fourth swords, which pass through Duke Long’s body and shake the tower. Shi Miao is struck as well and dies as a severed corpse with a smile. Duke Long is left with three huge wounds but still breathing. Fang Yuan softly declares Duke Long’s life over and points the fifth sword, whose speed no one can block. ^{ch. 1949}

At the moment of death, Duke Long falls into a whirlpool of memories. As a child, he cries at his dying parents, who say they took their fatal wounds to stop Di Zang Sheng as members of Heavenly Court and tell him to protect humanity. As a youth, he vows to follow their path as a Gu Immortal of Heavenly Court. At rank six, he is told he is the Dao Guardian of the future Immortal Venerable and swears to give all he has to Heavenly Court and humanity. In his twilight years he sits weeping among the dragonman corpses of his children and grandchildren, whom he himself killed. He says he sacrificed them for humanity and Heavenly Court after they walked the wrong path, blames himself for it, and asks to bear all the sins. He tells them they will merge with him and never be apart, and calls himself just a dying old man. ^{ch. 1949}
