Sea Market Gambling Den

Fang Yuan drops an information path mortal Gu in front of the rank eight Immortal Gu House Merit Obelisk, recording his black oil experience and his merit board experiment for any Gu Immortals who arrive later. He hides nothing, since they already have their own guesses and can verify it easily. He reasons that Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable designed this true inheritance on purpose, wanting people to perform acts of kindness. Fang Yuan is now fully convinced it is Paradise Earth’s true inheritance. ch. 1658

Every inheritance carries its maker’s markings, style or unfulfilled wishes. The Flower Wine Monk wanted revenge on Gu Yue clan, so he left the video of the clan leader’s defeat and a cave that lured Fang Yuan to destroy the clan’s spirit spring. Giant Sun Immortal Venerable left Eighty-Eight True Yang Building to help the whole Huang Jin bloodline keep its rule. Shadow Sect’s true inheritance exists only because Heavenly Court captured Spectral Soul Demon Venerable, who formed it with Fang Yuan as his lingering hope, to increase his strength. Paradise Earth’s differs from the rest, filled with serenity, kindness, warmth and light. Fang Yuan thinks he too would leave an inheritance if he died, one urging its inheritor toward eternal life. ch. 1658

Seventy to eighty days pass, with Fang Yuan completing many missions and climbing the merit board rankings. He reaches a permanent sea market where nearly half the crowd are mermen, a very rare sight in the five regions. His mission is to punish an unscrupulous merchant on its core island, but his true goal is intel on regret Gu. This market lies closest to Demon Suppression Regret Crying Sea, yet he has never managed to enter that sea. Gu Immortals here cannot talk to each other or connect to treasure yellow heaven, and each mission limits their range. Even with rank eight cultivation, he cannot unravel Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable’s arrangements. ch. 1658

Fang Yuan stops at Golden Jade House, a gambling den at the island’s center that ordinary Gu Masters cannot enter. As a former gambling den owner, he knows the perfect way to make such a merchant suffer, which does not mean killing. He steps in, and a memory from his past surfaces. ch. 1658

In that memory, Lu Da, a rank four merman backed by Frost Tide tribe’s leader, openly provoked the saintess Xie Han Mo by daring anyone to gamble. She smiled that lost reputation could not shake her foundation, since the provocation showed they were panicking. Fang Yuan, the human Gu Master she had saved, stepped out to gamble with Lu Da to repay that debt. She wanted to go out so that no outsider would sacrifice himself, but her two guards stopped her, fearing a trap. Lu Da offered him first pick, but Fang Yuan calmly handed it back. ch. 1658

Fang Yuan won the first two rounds, then gave his name as Gu Yue Fang Yuan, adding that he had owned gambling dens. In the final round, Lu Da chose a rock, then shattered all the others in the den. When Fang Yuan cried foul, Lu Da replied that the rules barred only attacks between the two sides, not on rocks. Lu Da said his rock held a Gu worm while Fang Yuan was empty-handed. He told Fang Yuan to suicide. Fang Yuan raised his fists for a battle to the death, and Xie Han Mo walked in with a cold expression as everyone cleared a path. ch. 1658
