Xie Han Mo

She is the person he loved the most in his previous life. He has never forgotten the name Xie Han Mo. ^{ch. 1653}

She is a white scaled mermaid, and she is the saintess of the mermen tribe. In the deep sea he sees three blur figures, white, blue, and red, with human bodies and fish tails. The white figure speaks in a kind and refreshing voice, heals him, and leaves a Gu worm so he can heal the black oil corrosion himself. She and the blue scaled mermaid are equally beautiful. Their appearances are very different. ^{ch. 1656}

Looking at Xia Lin, he sees she is not Xie Han Mo. The deceased had already passed on. She is gone with the wind. ^{ch. 1657}

At Golden Jade House, Lu Da, a rank four expert backed by Frost Tide tribe’s leader, provokes the saintess. She smiles that reputation lost this way cannot shake her foundation, and that the provocation means they are already panicking. When Fang Yuan steps in to repay the debt of being saved, she wants to go out so an outsider is not sacrificed. Her blue scaled and red scaled guards stop her. After Lu Da breaks the gamble, she walks into the den with a cold expression. ^{ch. 1658}

On the beach he chases the leaving group and offers help. He names her the Merman Imperial Court’s current generation saintess, come to find evidence of Frost Tide tribe’s corruption, and says the tribe’s money laundering has to run through that gambling den. Her thick eyelashes droop down. She looks at him with a crystal clear gaze, then nods and asks his name. He is Gu Yue Fang Yuan. ^{ch. 1661}

He helps her investigate the gambling den and they find a lot of corruption evidence. Investigator Wu De, a jade-scaled merman, comes on rumors that the current generation saintess has an affair with the human Gu Master Gu Yue Fang Yuan. She asks for the elder assembly’s token. Wu De says he can investigate Fang Yuan without one because Fang Yuan is a human Gu Master with no background. Eastern Sea’s Merman Sacred Court is a super force. She will not hand Fang Yuan over. She tells Fang Yuan he is a good person, that she is also a good person, and that a good person cannot sacrifice another good person. He sees lively expressions from her for the first time. She says then let the rumors spread. ^{ch. 1663}

After she rejects the investigator and protects Fang Yuan, the Merman Sacred Court holds the Sea God Ceremony again to decide on the saintess once more. She has not lost her qualifications. She says that once she started to investigate the corruption, someone tried to drag her down, so corruption among the Sacred Court’s elders has gotten very severe. Pale green flames form a path. Qiu Shuang, also a white scaled mermaid, calls her former saintess. Fang Yuan walks the eerie fire in her place. She looks at him with crystal clear eyes, then holds him when he faints. For the first time her gentle eyes reveal a cold and sharp light. She performs the later tests perfectly until only Qiu Shuang is left. When the red scaled guard is accused, she rejects Fang Yuan taking the blame. ^{ch. 1664}

She still refuses to let Fang Yuan take the blame. Three days later she receives information that Qiu Shuang is no longer pure. She became the saintess because she was supported by the grand elder of the Merman Sacred Court, the fairest and most lenient among the higher-ups, who is using that support to correct corruption. Qiu Shuang is investigated, exposed, and killed. Frost Tide tribe’s leader then puts Dong Lei, one of Qiu Shuang’s followers, in her place. ^{ch. 1665}

In the final test, merman warriors in seashell armor hold a huge white shell shield while mermen dance and sing around Xie Han Mo and Dong Lei. Dong Lei sings the song they prepared. Frost Tide tribe’s leader calls Xie Han Mo too young and too naive, and says he paid a huge price to plant a spy this close to her. She tells her three followers they can still leave, so they are not implicated if she loses the saintess position. ^{ch. 1666}

Fang Yuan goes on stage as her accompaniment with a song she must adapt on the spot. Anxiety shows on her face. She shuts her eyes, her usual habit before singing. She had attended the Sea God Ceremony once before and became the saintess. She has a pure and penetrating voice, gentle and warm, like pale white moonlight that seems cold and also a little warm on the inside. Pure moonlight shines on the giant seashell that envelops them. ^{ch. 1667}

Their first attempt has errors in her Gu worm manipulation, but her personal attainment is profound, and they take a slight lead. She looks at Fang Yuan with a sincere and bright gaze and says that creating such a song means his sound path attainment is beyond ordinary. He plays while she sings and dances. She thinks of the time she was saintess: even with high authority she was all alone. She feels that he is someone who knows her. They win by a margin again. Frost Tide tribe’s leader says Frost Tide tribe is the largest faction in the Sacred Court, and that when she investigated the corruption the grand elder gave little real help. ^{ch. 1668}

Frost Tide tribe’s leader asks if Fang Yuan likes Xie Han Mo and offers other mermaids. Fang Yuan says he does not, that he only wants to help her, and that favors must be repaid and hatred returned. If not for Fang Yuan, the leader would already have pushed her down and promoted his own pawn. They walk to the stage together for the final song. She looks at him with extraordinary brightness in her eyes and thinks that such a free and unrestrained life is what she yearns for. ^{ch. 1673}

After rebirth Fang Yuan finds Xia Lin in the black oil. Her face is not the same as Xie Han Mo, but their disposition is very alike. ^{ch. 1893}
