Merit Obelisk

Half a day later the group gathers before the named house Merit Obelisk. Island resources were arranged by Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable so explorers who skip missions still receive some reward, and the house itself cannot be unraveled by the explorers’ strength. Accepting missions requires acknowledgment like a super clan’s life tablet Gu and soul lantern Gu, but more restrictive. Palm contact lists each immortal’s name on the board; Fang Yuan appears under the disguise name Chu Ying. He judges the house mainly earth path and sound path and cannot deduce it, and treats it as a rank eight Immortal Gu House made by Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable that might expose a true name. After choices are locked, a light pillar transports each accepter away; even as a rank eight he is moved with no effort and calls the house the core of the grotto-heaven. ^{ch. 1652}

Mission range is limited, and returning means reciting “return” three times in the mind. Immortals cannot connect to treasure yellow heaven or the outside world, and cannot talk to each other, so they leave information path mortal Gu in front of the house instead. Fang Yuan keeps researching the house and the paradise arrangements and still cannot unravel them. ^{ch. 1658}

Looking into the board later shows priced exchange options paid with accumulated merits, including immortal materials, Immortal Gu, recipes, immortal killer moves, and Immortal Gu Houses. Expensive options drive competition while cheaper tiers match what the visiting group can afford. Regret Gu and exchange of Merit Obelisk itself are not among the listed rewards. ^{ch. 1662}

When explorers gather again, the surface shows background of the island and details of Paradise Earth true inheritance, and obtaining that inheritance still requires accepting Merit Obelisk missions for merit points that can be exchanged for more valuable rewards. ^{ch. 1891}

Fang Yuan researches the board after his earth path attainment rises and still wants the house itself. It holds earth path and sound path profundity together with human path and heaven path; earth path and sound path are supplementary while human path and heaven path are the true cores. Full comprehension would need great grandmaster in all four paths, so refining the rank eight house is unrealistic for him then. ^{ch. 1899}
