Who Else Could It Be But Me?

The immortals gather at the center of the small island and find a huge obelisk that seems to be made of gold, Merit Obelisk, a rank eight Immortal Gu House. To obtain the Paradise Earth true inheritance, one must accept missions on it and gain merit points, which can be exchanged for more valuable things. Whoever refuses can only wait on this island and cannot leave it. The immortal materials on the island are prepared for them to split, and in three hundred days everyone will be transported away. The immortals are shocked. ch. 1891

They realize that the cloud ladder leaf hearts, clear wind grass stems and rooster iron were real and have all been taken, and they suspect Chu Ying. Immortal Hua Die finds Chu Ying alone on the Merit Board Ranking, with eighty-two merit points. His points jump to ninety-three, and the obelisk flashes. Fang Yuan appears as Chu Ying. ch. 1891

Fang Yuan greets the immortals plainly, and his indifference makes them all furious. Asked by Shen Cong Sheng whether he took all the immortal materials, Fang Yuan retorts that it could only be him, and browses the missions. Ren Xiu Ping demands an explanation, but Fang Yuan ignores him, takes another mission and vanishes. Shen Cong Sheng says to investigate Chu Ying after they go out, calms down and walks to the obelisk. He thinks Chu Ying is merely a rank seven secluded lone immortal to deal with later. ch. 1891

In the previous life Miao Ming Shen’s group divided the island’s materials first and then took missions, but Fang Yuan woke in advance and ransacked the entire island. Only the Merit Obelisk is left to the immortals. Its many missions include building wells for drying Round fish island and finding herbs for plague-stricken Three stripes tribe. They are described only briefly, so nobody knows any details. The immortals’ hatred, anger and suspicion toward Chu Ying intensify. ch. 1891

The rewards are many immortal materials and Immortal Gu, along with peculiar things like titles or mortal Gu. Shen Cong Sheng sees a rank five mortal Gu, good deeds Gu, which costs fifty merit points, the most expensive mortal Gu. Its effect is not written, but he judges it must be unique. The immortals decide to try the missions to find out, and Shen Cong Sheng acts first. In the previous life Miao Ming Shen’s group of eight saw only ten missions, but with more people now the missions seem to have increased. ch. 1891

Shen Cong Sheng takes the mission to build wells for drying Round fish island, and a power his dense dao marks cannot block carries him instantly to a desert. His investigative method works properly there. Round fish island is huge with many villages, but desert is spreading around the few that remain. The mission is a mortal level issue, much easier than he expected, and he reasons that missions must be very easy since Chu Ying gained ninety-three merit points so quickly. ch. 1891

Shen Cong Sheng tests many things before acting, then secretly digs wells with sound path methods and builds more than thirty. He cannot leave the desert area, cannot send anything to Shen Qi, Shen Tan or treasure yellow heaven, and cannot attack the villagers, since his offensive methods fail and cause backlash. He can take things out of his immortal aperture but cannot put anything from Round fish island into it. He learns from the villagers that they can leave the island and tour the seas, and that past conflicts among the villages killed people. He concludes that Dragon Whale Paradise gives its inhabitants a lot of freedom but greatly restricts the Gu Immortals who receive missions, and he cannot detect how. This increases his admiration for Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable. ch. 1891
