Shen Tan is an ordinary water path Gu Immortal of Shen clan who attacks Chu Ying with a vat-sized water ring during Shen Cong Sheng’s ambush on Miao Ming Shen’s group. When Chu Ying dodges three more water rings, Shen Tan asks Ren Xiu Ping for a hand, and after Ren Xiu Ping turns one of his vicious sharks on Chu Ying, Shen Tan blocks Chu Ying’s path with four water rings. When Shen Cong Sheng tosses him the captured Immortal Hua Die and Feng Jiang, Chu Ying uses the moment to break the water rings and help the others out, and Shen Tan joins Shen Qi and Ren Xiu Ping in chasing Chu Ying, Tong Hua, and Zeng Luo Zi into the sky. When Shen Cong Sheng, the last of all the Gu Immortals to arrive, wakes inside Dragon Whale Paradise, having died in what proves to be an illusion, Shen Tan tells him the place is likely Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable’s method, similar to Central Continent’s Reincarnation Battlefield. ch. 1889
Explaining the no-fighting rule
Shen Tan warns Shen Cong Sheng that the place forbids fighting, so any killer move or Gu activation fails while healing remains unobstructed. Scolded for not saying so earlier, he lowers his head and apologizes rather than pointing out that Shen Cong Sheng had acted too quickly to be warned. ch. 1890

Proposing cooperation, then scolded
Inside Dragon Whale Paradise, Shen Tan is named in the first of two groups, with Shen Cong Sheng, Shen Qi, Shen Xiao, Shen Nai He, Ren Xiu Ping, and Tong Hua, set apart from Miao Ming Shen’s group. He approaches Miao Ming Shen’s group to offer cooperation on Shen Cong Sheng’s behalf, telling them it is their only chance before they leave the paradise. When Miao Ming Shen accepts the cooperation but then says he has nothing to tell, Shen Tan accuses him of lying to fool Shen clan. He greets Chu Ying as Brother Chu Ying, only to be told to scram, and holds down his anger under Shen Cong Sheng’s hand on his shoulder. ch. 1892 ch. 1894 He then turns on Miao Ming Shen, demanding to know who Chu Ying is and what his background is. ch. 1892
