Chapter 1607

Xia Fei Kuai, a rank seven light path Gu Immortal whose extraordinary battle strength is only slightly weaker than Wu clan’s Wu Yu Bo, hurries through Xia clan’s Jian Wen blessed land on Yan Shou Mountain. He has forgotten the five year agreement Fang Yuan once set with him as Wu Yi Hai. He presses a rank five featherman maid, a hall stewardess, for news. She says Fang Yuan sent an information path Gu worm carrying a ransom note half a day ago to Xia clan’s purple spiritual light stall in treasure yellow heaven. Purple spiritual light, a rank seven immortal material, is Xia clan’s number one source of revenue, and to build reputation the clan trades under an explicit identity, so Fang Yuan found its stall easily. Xia Fei Kuai is extremely furious. ^{ch. 1607}

In the central hall the main seat, usually Xia Cha’s, stands empty, while second supreme elder Xia Zhao, an earth path Gu Immortal and the clan’s main backbone, faces third supreme elder Xia Chen Yuan. Xia Liu Pei, Xia Qing Cang, Xia Zhuo Mo, Xia Fan and other Gu Immortals attend in person or by will. Xia Fei Kuai reads the ransom note, whose image shows Xia Cha trapped in sovereign immortal aperture. He shouts that Fang Yuan must be killed, and the others stay silent. They are most shocked that Xia Cha, the rank eight first supreme elder, failed to capture Fang Yuan and was taken alive instead. A rank seven Gu Immortal has captured a rank eight and a dozen rank seven experts, almost all of them the trump cards of their clans. ^{ch. 1607}

Xia clan’s position is the most pressing, because it has lost its only rank eight. Xia Zhao calls this a critical juncture and an extremely dangerous situation, and urges unity. His heart eases slightly now that the ransom note has come, demanding one million immortal essence stones. Xia Chen Yuan says the sum is affordable, but the note says nothing about handing over Xia Cha. Xia Fei Kuai suggests informing the other clans, but Xia Liu Pei sneers that outsiders want to see Xia clan lose its first supreme elder and asks whether any clan has contacted it. Xia Fei Kuai falls silent. ^{ch. 1607}

Without its rank eight pillar, Xia clan seems to hold too many territories, a danger greater than Wu clan’s earlier one, when Shadow Sect’s schemes besieged Wu Yong despite his rank eight. Xia clan absolutely cannot lose Xia Cha. When Fang Yuan’s will returns to the stall, it receives one million immortal essence stones from Xia clan. Xia Zhao personally receives it and says they need to talk. Fang Yuan laughs heartily and does not refuse, but says he is in a hurry and that whatever Xia Zhao wants to say should go to the stall by information path Gu worm. Xia Zhao tries to make the will stay, but it leaves, and he is furious yet helpless, his heart extremely heavy. ^{ch. 1607}
