Xia Fei Kuai

As the two clans come face to face in the sky over Frosty Peak, Fang Yuan takes him to be running Xia clan’s side of the talks. When Fang Yuan asks for extra portions of the clan’s four seasons tea, Xia Zhuo Mo has already decided and is about to answer when Xia Fei Kuai cuts in, hands over more than ten shares of it, and turns the talk to Frosty Peak. ^{ch. 1307}

As Fang Yuan repeatedly claims not to have heard the historical explanation clearly, Xia Fei Kuai repeats it once more, slowly and word by word, only for Fang Yuan to keep stalling; his patience wears thin and he grows furious enough to slam the table. Following Xia Zhuo Mo’s plan, he turns to Fang Yuan, calls him extremely strong and the glory of Wu clan, and challenges him to a spar on Xia clan’s behalf. ^{ch. 1308}

In the spar he represents Xia clan and declares he will fight Fang Yuan alone, having never considered fighting alongside Xia Zhuo Mo. He accepts Fang Yuan’s terms that he attacks while Fang Yuan defends, and that Fang Yuan loses if the defense breaks within ten moves. He cannot wait to teach Fang Yuan a lesson. Among Southern Border’s rank seven Gu Immortals he ranks as a famous expert, and inside Wu clan only the rank eight Wu Yong and the strongest rank seven, Wu Yu Bo, who is only slightly superior to him, stand above him. With Wu Yu Bo in secluded cultivation, he judges that nobody in Wu clan is left for him to fear. He refuses to stake Frosty Peak’s status quo on the outcome, then accepts a five year version of it while Xia Zhuo Mo is still weighing it, and tells Xia Zhuo Mo he will bear full responsibility. Fang Yuan turns into a divination tortoise that fills the valley. Xia Fei Kuai takes the first move, gathering white light into his fist and driving it down at the tortoise as the immortal killer move soaring essence strike. ^{ch. 1309}

When Fang Yuan uses an immortal killer move, Xia Fei Kuai answers with soaring essence strike. Light path is famous for speed, but his move imitates strength path like a heavy fist meant to catch enemies off-guard. The strike shows no effect on Fang Yuan’s defense, shocking Xia Zhuo Mo, and Xia Fei Kuai pulls back to rethink. ^{ch. 1310}

Xia Fei Kuai activates the immortal killer move Thirty-three Heavenly Lights against Fang Yuan’s proliferating tortoise shell thoughts, but Fang Yuan withdraws them all back into his own mind by the seventh flicker, leaving the killer move’s remaining flickers nothing to destroy. Forced to see the killer move through to its thirty-third flicker, he has spent three of his ten moves, then attacks as a ray of light from all directions. By the end of the tenth move he has raised only slight injury marks on Fang Yuan’s shell, and he tells Fang Yuan “You win this time” before flying away. ^{ch. 1311}

Fang Yuan defeats Xia Fei Kuai by relying on the immortal killer move vajra shell and on strategy. ^{ch. 1314}

Discussing Wu Yi Hai’s win over Xia Fei Kuai, Lun Fei tells Luo Mu Zi that the victory came from knowing the enemy rather than from strength, since a genuinely stronger Wu Yi Hai would not have needed to negotiate terms with Mountain Moving Old Monster over Mount Snail. ^{ch. 1320}
