Activating divination tortoise shell Immortal Gu alone already gives a shell not weaker than an ancient divination tortoise; with the supplementary Gu the shell’s defense exceeds a real ancient divination tortoise. Xia Fei Kuai’s soaring essence strike smashes the tortoise into the ground yet leaves the shell undented. ^{ch. 1310}

Against Black Tigress inside the super Gu formation, Fang Yuan turns into the divination tortoise and stops moving, using the transformed body to block the formation’s damaged hole. ^{ch. 1352}

He still lists divination tortoise transformation among his defensive methods, but treats the ancient desolate beast divination tortoise as useless in a rank eight battle. ^{ch. 1700}
