Change Form Immortal Gu

During the Refinement Path Convention stretch his main priority is this refinement. Top six winners receive success dao marks that remove the natural failure probability when refining Gu; one success dao mark can cover a rank six Immortal Gu if technique does not fail and if that Immortal Gu does not already exist elsewhere. He judges that Change Form is unlikely to already exist. ^{ch. 847} He finishes second, takes a success dao mark, rejects offers from the ten ancient sects to buy it, and returns to prepare the refinement with only one set of materials thanks to that mark. ^{ch. 858} He begins the refinement in Star Form blessed land in secret, relying on the success dao mark to cut the natural failure rate for rank six Immortal Gu to zero while still needing an undisturbed site so technique errors do not waste the materials. ^{ch. 859} He completes Change Form Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 861} The success dao mark and almost all of his immortal materials and immortal essence stones are spent on that refinement. ^{ch. 862}

A month later in Hu Immortal blessed land he fuses Change Form Immortal Gu into vaguely familiar face. ^{ch. 863} After he obtains the Gu, vaguely familiar face’s effect rises greatly and lets him change appearance on a much larger scale. ^{ch. 876} The original familiar face formula lists it among two supplementary Immortal Gu beside the core Attitude Gu. ^{ch. 976} Fang Yuan does not have change form Immortal Gu, so his own modified familiar face can only take human form and cannot transform into beasts or other species, where the original familiar face could take any form at all. With change form Immortal Gu he could transform into other species and shed that limit to human disguise. ^{ch. 993}

Fang Yuan searches an Eastern Sea island cliff for a cave he knows only from his previous life, the boyhood hideout of Li Xiao Yao, a Gu Immortal still some two hundred years from being born. The opening he settles on is too small even for his Xing Xiang Zi body, let alone his original eight-arm immortal zombie body. Change Form Immortal Gu lets him shrink and squeeze inside. ^{ch. 894}

Change Form Immortal Gu is the essence of transformation path itself. Reckless Savage Demon Venerable refined it to rank nine, and after that Demon Venerable died the rank nine Gu was destroyed, so later refiners start again from rank six. The Gu has been destroyed and refined dozens of times; it is usually rank six, rarely rank seven, and almost countable on two hands at rank eight. Fang Yuan again aims only at rank six. He spends the third and last of his Gu refining chances from Lang Ya land spirit on this Gu rather than on Fixed Immortal Travel, whose crucial material, light of the immemorial era, is missing and which matters less to him now than transformation path. ^{ch. 1065} During a trading convention, Change Form Immortal Gu is called the essence of transformation path; with it a Gu Immortal can turn into any form, unlike ordinary transformation path practice limited to a few forms. ^{ch. 1298}

Change Form Immortal Gu becomes one of two cores in Fang Yuan’s new divination tortoise transformation killer move, alongside rank seven divination tortoise shell Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 1302}
