Spirit Incubating Flea

It is a Gu worm with wings. It can lie motionless, then move its wings and fly, flap its wings, and flutter through the air. ^{ch. 827}

Lord Sky Crane says that after death his soul resides in the spirit incubating flea and that he can talk to Fang Zheng because of Immortal Crane Sect’s supreme elder He Feng Yang. He Feng Yang used secret methods to resuscitate the flea; Lord Sky Crane will then use his soul to support Fang Zheng toward the peak of Dang Hun Mountain. ^{ch. 366}

From inside Fang Zheng’s aperture, the flea speaks in Lord Sky Crane’s voice, and a formless energy flows into the deepest part of Fang Zheng’s soul. One of the ten Gu Immortals watching from outside Hu Immortal blessed land says He Feng Yang must have used one’s own way Gu to ensure the flea still works. The narration states that He Feng Yang holds a rank six one’s own way Gu, which allows other Gu worms to operate in the blessed land. ^{ch. 375}

Fang Zheng lies unconscious on a stone bed with his soul a step away from collapse, and He Feng Yang asks the flea whether it wants him revived. A firm voice from the flea, Lord Sky Crane’s, says he is willing to give up this possession opportunity and asks He Feng Yang to save Fang Zheng instead. He Feng Yang answers that the moment is the most suitable for possessing Fang Zheng’s body, since his soul is extremely weak. He then heals Fang Zheng’s body and stabilizes his soul. He tells Lord Sky Crane he need not give up the chance and may give his answer later. ^{ch. 711}

A Gu worm lies motionless on Fang Zheng’s chest, then moves its wings and flies up when He Feng Yang appears; that Gu is the spirit incubating flea containing Lord Sky Crane’s soul. Lord Sky Crane had intended to possess Fang Zheng and had placed the flea in Fang Zheng’s aperture, so the long contact already met the possession condition, but he refuses to possess his disciple. The flea flaps its wings while speaking, and later flutters toward Fang Zheng’s eyes when he wakes. ^{ch. 827}

He Feng Yang tells Fang Yuan that eliminating Fang Zheng is Heavenly Court’s order, and that if Fang Yuan accepts, he is to hand Fang Zheng over in three days. In exchange for executing Fang Zheng before him, He Feng Yang asks for Lord Sky Crane’s soul intact. Three days later, Fang Yuan hands over Fang Zheng and the spirit incubating flea, with Lord Sky Crane’s soul in it. He Feng Yang kills Fang Zheng on the spot under Fang Yuan’s supervision, and fire burns until not a trace of him is left. Lord Sky Crane’s voice asks from the flea why he did it, saying He Feng Yang had promised him. He Feng Yang answers that it is an order from Heavenly Court and that he will find a good body for Lord Sky Crane to revive. He sucks the flea into his sleeve and leaves. ^{ch. 857} Narration later reveals that the killing was a show: Fang Yuan had cut off one of Fang Zheng’s arms and kept it, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng revived Fang Zheng from that arm with man as before Immortal Gu. ^{ch. 858}
