Immortal Gu Time Luck
Fairy Li Shan reacts with fury to Fang Yuan’s request for her mountain pledge Gu, her main source of revenue. Fang Yuan laughs it off as a joke, having meant only to probe her. Still angry, Fairy Li Shan instead offers him a choice among several Immortal Gu she carries, with Hei Lou Lan to supply the other half on waking. Fang Yuan had been eyeing Hei Lou Lan’s slavery Gu, but switches his choice to one of Fairy Li Shan’s own; she sighs bitterly, since she had only just obtained it and had not even used it herself. ch. 767
The Gu is Time Luck, a luck and time path Immortal Gu that spends immortal essence and lifespan to boost the user’s luck. Fairy Li Shan warns that she got it as payment from Qin Bai Sheng, that ordinary Gu Immortals must spend lifespan to use it, and that as a zombie he cannot, suggesting he pick another Gu. Fang Yuan shows interest anyway. Gu Immortals treasure lifespan even more than Gu Masters do, since only lifespan Gu extend it without cost, and Qin Bai Sheng’s auction sold none even with nearly every Northern Plains expert attending. ch. 767
Guessing that Fairy Li Shan has a way to offset the cost, Fang Yuan learns she has a killer move built on Time Luck, drawing on another person’s lifespan to amplify the user’s luck. He asks to buy the killer move outright; she refuses at once. He says he still wants the Gu itself, since an improved mortal Gu recipe he holds for inch of time might replace the lifespan cost. Tai Bai Yun Sheng, a time path Gu Immortal, notes they had not known she held Time Luck when they acquired the inch of time recipe, and expects the two Gu to coordinate. ch. 767
Fairy Li Shan proposes leaving Time Luck with her instead. She would use the killer move to improve their luck herself. Fang Yuan counters that the same logic lets her simply borrow the Gu back when needed, which shows her that whoever holds it holds the advantage. She regrets ever bringing Time Luck out, having meant to build a new income from it by improving other Gu Immortals’ luck for a fee. ch. 767
Resigned, Fairy Li Shan reasons that even if Fang Yuan had wanted both strength path Gu, she could not have refused him anyway. She reflects that her own younger sister Su Xian Er had left behind a familial emotion and a large store of green grape immortal essence in Little Lan’s aperture, which let Little Lan use Immortal Gu while still mortal. That familial emotion has instead made the dream realm stronger, so it cannot be broken and holds Little Lan fast while her soul risks disappearing over time. Astute, Fairy Li Shan keeps this to herself, not lying about it but simply withholding it. Even if Fang Yuan cannot save Hei Lou Lan, the agreement binds him to try another method, so she has him bound to her cause regardless. She lets go and allows him to take Time Luck. Fang Yuan profited greatly from the extortion since it suited his new plans, but never learned her true bottom line, since her acting gave nothing away. ch. 767
Fairy Li Shan pays two Gu to save two lives she values more. Fang Yuan and Tai Bai Yun Sheng return to Hu Immortal blessed land to refine the dream path mortal Gu and form the killer move that can save Hei Lou Lan. Fairy Li Shan rushes to Snowy Mountain’s first peak, where Old Ancestor Xue Hu has already gathered most of the demonic path Gu Immortals and repeatedly urged her. Before leaving, she warns Fang Yuan that Little Lan is only there temporarily, that the third peak is not safe, and that delay grows more dangerous for them both. ch. 767
