Huang Shi's Death
The enormous wave from the split closes around Huang Shi, and he realizes with a shock that Fang Yuan’s side can actually control this river segment, meaning the monkey’s earlier entrapment was itself a trap he walked into. This shames him deeply. He doubts Fang Yuan alone has this power, recalling Fairy Zi Wei’s judgment that Hei Fan’s true inheritance should not grant it. He suspects instead the hand of Red Lotus’ true inheritance, since only a venerable like Red Lotus Demon Venerable could control a segment of the River of Time. Resolving to show his true strength, Huang Shi activates at least four immortal killer moves at once, swelling the yellow soil rock above his head into a hill that blocks the giant wave, and sends ripples of time at Bai Ning Bing’s group. ch. 1434
Fang Yuan, unwilling to sacrifice Bai Ning Bing’s group yet, still has Ying Wu Xie, a split soul deliberately left among them, guarding against Spectral Soul’s will. Spectral Soul’s will tells Fang Yuan not to worry. Red Lotus Demon Venerable built this island himself. The wave Huang Shi resisted still holds the peerless sword path and blade path killer moves of the segment. Spectral Soul’s will names the attack nine-nine reincarnation blades, Dao Jiu Lang’s most powerful offensive move, nine layers of blade light each able to slaughter ghosts and deities, cycling to eighty-one strikes in all. Dao Jiu Lang used it only three times in his life, each use costing a hundred years of lifespan, and this was his masterpiece from his old fight against Xi Yuan. ch. 1434
The blade lights are extremely radiant, paining even Fang Yuan’s eyes through the image. Dao Jiu Lang was a blade path legend at the peak of Western Desert, an influential rank eight figure who, had he been born in Central Continent, would absolutely have joined Heavenly Court. Huang Shi raises his own hidden trump card and throws everything into defense as huge explosions sound. When the bombardment ends, the large yellow rock above him is gone and he is left haggard, his wounds bloodless and filled with blade path dao marks feeding blade qi into his organs. ch. 1434
Spectral Soul’s will then raises Xi Yuan’s main trump card, sword qi deep and unmatchable in might. Huang Shi recognizes and names it sword burial abyss, but finds himself locked in place, unable to move. Everything he had went into resisting nine-nine reincarnation blades, and his defenses have fallen to almost nothing. Spectral Soul’s will warns that killing him will exhaust the stone lotus island’s foundation completely, though sparing him would let it last a few more years. Fang Yuan orders his death anyway. Unable to break free, Huang Shi roars that his own sacrifice does not matter, that he has let Heavenly Court’s plan fail and left the otherworldly demon Fang Yuan free, and that he cannot accept it. His life force is then completely swallowed, and Lord Huang Shi, a rank eight time path Heavenly Court Gu Immortal, dies. ch. 1434
