Ma Zun

Ma Ying Jie names him uncle and one of the three great enslavement masters of that stretch, and Ma tribe Gu Masters show admiration when the name comes up. ^{ch. 489} Later talk still calls Ma Ying Jie Little Ma Zun. ^{ch. 576} Narration separately calls Ma Zun the teacher whose enslavement inheritance made him a regional ruler. ^{ch. 579} The same Ma tribe stretch paints him as taciturn from childhood, a horse lover the tribesmen joked as horse maniac and horse fool, reclusive, never married, and little interested in worldly power. Ma Ying Jie fabricates quotes in his uncle’s name to raise his own standing, counting on that silence so the words will not be torn down. ^{ch. 489}

When Fang Yuan declares he will kill Yang Po Ying, Jiang Bao Ya, and Ma Zun, Ma Zun stays silent at first, then shouts in shock at the scale of the wolf tide and tries to wheel the horse group out of the encirclement. Fang Yuan intercepts with mutated wolves and ordinary packs until the horses are surrounded, while Ma Zun’s own pegasus numbers cannot match that mutated chase. ^{ch. 540} After Yang Po Ying falls, Fang Yuan turns on Ma Zun across the horse lines and names him next. ^{ch. 541} Ma Zun refuses to flee, calling himself a Ma tribe symbol whose flight would crush morale and saying he still has the pegasus group, then watches Fang Yuan smash through those pegasus and reach him. Ma Ying Jie spends the killer move dragon horse spirit first to cover him; Ma Zun later uses the same move himself, holds a tighter soul defense than his nephew, and still dies when Fang Yuan breaks the barrier with three punches after splitting the horse-soul line with wolf waves.
