Yang Po Ying

Fang Yuan weighs northern plains beast groups and places Yang Po Ying with Ma Zun and Jiang Bao Ya among the masters whose herds run to hundreds of thousands, at least four hundred thousand in one of his counts, with a mutated thunder eagle group as trump card. ^{ch. 482 ch. 491 ch. 492 ch. 493} When Nu Er Tu joins the enslavement master ranks after beating Jiang Bao Ya, talk groups Jiang Bao Ya, Yang Po Ying, Ma Zun, Chang Shan Yin, and Nu Er Tu as five beast kings, and Eagle King Yang Po Ying is the one with the mutated thunder eagle group. ^{ch. 525 ch. 527}

Yang tribe then Ma tribe

Ma Ying Jie treats Rat King’s move into Yang tribe as an alliance of Rat King and Eagle King Yang Po Ying that briefly lifts that underdog tribe in the Imperial Court struggle, while still calling Yang tribe foundations far inferior to Ma tribe and Rat King already crippled. ^{ch. 529} After Ma tribe defeats Ye Lui tribe and absorbs Yang tribe among other forces, Ma Shang Feng’s side fields Yang Po Ying with Jiang Bao Ya and Ma Zun as three enslavement path masters against Hei Lou Lan. ^{ch. 539}

Challenge on the battlefield

In that three-group charge Horse King Ma Zun, Rat King Jiang Bao Ya, and Eagle King Yang Po Ying move together. Yang Po Ying rides a huge eagle, challenges Wolf King by name, and tries to pin Fang Yuan’s wolves from the air while Rat King mocks and Ma Zun charges with horse-guard experts. ^{ch. 539} When Fang Yuan later floods the field with over a million wolves, Yang Po Ying’s battle intent freezes with the others; with horse and rat groups already cut off or fleeing, he chooses to restrain Wolf King rather than abandon the Gu Master lines, then sends Wu Ye and other fliers to press the experts around Fang Yuan while claiming thunder eagle cover keeps him safe. ^{ch. 540}

The fan translation writes the name as Yang Po Ying and the title Eagle King Yang Po Ying. One line in chapter 540 uses a feminine pronoun for him while the surrounding narration keeps masculine forms; this page follows the majority usage. No Chinese characters for the personal name appear in the English chapter text used here.
