Fang Yuan asks Mo Yao’s will if she has been wanting him to use Spring Autumn Cicada all along. Mo Yao’s will denies it. He says that as a naturally cautious person who weighs defeat more than victory, he had already prepared for the worst case: that she had known his secret of holding Spring Autumn Cicada and being reborn since his first visit to Water Pavilion. He accuses her of revealing herself on her own initiative and then feigning guilt toward Spirit Affinity House to hand him the mission of returning Water Pavilion, a red herring meant to win his trust. ch. 644
He lists what she did toward that end: creating six arm heavenly zombie king for him, teaching him ink transformation and other refinement path killer moves, helping him infiltrate True Yang Building, and giving him reminders in battle like a strategist. All the while, he says, she was subtly steering his decisions. Mo Yao’s will raises her voice in displeasure. When Giant Sun’s will first awakened, he says she urged him to leave and take Water Pavilion back to the central continent while secretly pushing him to keep taking risks instead. Facing Ma Hong Yun, she urged him to help while stirring his killing intent into an impulsive attack that raised his black coffin luck. ch. 644
He adds that after learning the ownership conditions from Imperial Court blessed land’s land spirit, Frost Jade Peacock, and leaving True Yang Building, he recalled events from his own previous life involving a certain person. He calls those memories too deeply buried to surface on their own. He accuses her of striking in secret and trying to read those previous-life memories while his mind was in turmoil. Mo Yao’s will sounds wronged and insists these were all his own choices. ch. 644
Fang Yuan admits his own mistakes but asks if she knows her greatest flaw. He names it: her stated mission was to return Water Pavilion to Spirit Affinity House, yet at the crucial moment she sent Water Pavilion to block the seven fingered formless hand and protect him instead, which proves the mission was a red herring. Mo Yao’s will falls silent and does not refute him. ch. 644
Fang Yuan lists more flaws: she hid Water Pavilion on his body, meaning to control him with a rank seven Immortal Gu House at a crucial moment, and she hid what kind of will she was, since exposure would have made him suspicious. He says she gave him a deliberately wrong timing so his transformation into six arm heavenly zombie king would become permanent, the true cause of the desolation he felt afterward. He also says she played tricks to make him think of using Spring Autumn Cicada again and again, which does not fit a man of firm will who never repeats a decision once made. She had little immortal essence left after he became a Gu Immortal. He notes she still never lent him Water Pavilion earlier, which points to a plan of her own. ch. 644
Mo Yao’s will objects that she saved his life with Water Pavilion against Giant Sun’s will, and asks whether he is calling her crazy for saving him and harming him at once. Fang Yuan answers that she is not crazy. He reasons that if he were a will who had survived ten thousand years after his main body and his lover both died, the sight of Spring Autumn Cicada would make him want to use it to travel back and change history. ch. 644
He explains two obstacles standing between her and that goal: a will alone cannot use most Gu worms, and Spring Autumn Cicada needs a Gu Master’s self-detonated essence, flesh and other Gu worms as fuel, the stronger the fuel the further back it travels. The second obstacle, he says, is that Spring Autumn Cicada is his own vital Gu, which she could not seize by force as a formless hand could, and his many wisdom path Gu worms and wills made it harder still to snatch. She had no choice but to keep interacting with him, waiting for her chance. She had to strengthen him on one hand, raising the force of his eventual self-detonation, and engineer a situation of absolute despair on the other, to leave him no option but the Cicada. ch. 644
He admits he grew less vigilant as she affected his thoughts. She pushed him into repeated risks in True Yang Building and into dealing with Ma Hong Yun, Giant Sun’s will and Hei Lou Lan, he says, making him strong enemies and a desperate situation. But he says she was also afraid of going too far and killing him, so at the crucial moment she exposed Water Pavilion to save him from Giant Sun’s will’s fatal blow. She did the same again when the formless hand nearly seized him, afraid it would take or expose Spring Autumn Cicada. ch. 644
Outside, while the two wills talk, Giant Sun’s will’s countdown reaches six from ten. Mo Yao’s will finally claps and laughs, calling his analysis meticulous, admitting her long plan failed to deceive him, and saying that in her own time they might have been friends. Fang Yuan understands this as her laying her cards on the table. ch. 644
She is slim and beautiful behind a black veil, with a graceful bearing even as a will, and she confirms herself as Spirit Affinity House’s thirty-sixth generation fairy, a rank seven Gu Immortal and a refinement path grandmaster, unembarrassed at being exposed. She explains that her main body once risked entering Eighty-Eight True Yang Building. There, she gained an inheritance in the true inheritance secluded domain and made this will from it. She left behind Di Qiu inheritance to preserve a chance at refining calamity beckoning Gu and as a trap for Spirit Affinity House, after she had betrayed her sect for Bo Qing, not expecting Fang Yuan to arrive ten thousand years later. As a refinement path grandmaster, she adds, she had already tampered with his refinement of calamity beckoning Gu and discovered his Spring Autumn Cicada then. She planted her will inside that Gu as a trap meant for pursuers from Spirit Affinity House, since none of them could resist the chance to refine an Immortal Gu. ch. 644
