Leaving somebody in the lurch
A dishevelled rank three demonic Gu Master, Hei Shi, blocks Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing’s path and demands their primeval stones, their clothes, and three kowtows. Fang Yuan answers by summoning his beast phantom. The moment he moves, his breath concealment Gu fails and his rank four aura shows in full, while Bai Ning Bing cuts off Hei Shi’s escape. The phantom pulps him on the spot, blood, bone, and brain matter scattering across the ground. ch. 337
Watching demonic Gu Masters recognize the pair as the black and white twin demons, naming the man Fang Zheng and the woman Bai Ning Bing, both known from Shang clan city’s battle stage, where Fang Zheng earned the name little beast king. Still unsatisfied, Fang Yuan turns a second beast phantom on a demonic Gu Master hiding in the shadows, a man the crowd names Jin Cheng En, and explodes him into meat paste for the crime of watching. The rest scatter into the trees in every direction; Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing let them run. ch. 337
Months have passed since the Three Kings inheritance appeared on San Cha mountain, drawing righteous and demonic Gu Masters from across Southern Border to fight over its entry quota, and San Cha mountain has become a slaughterhouse where lives are lost daily in open combat and scheming. As Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing near it, the demonic Gu Masters they cross grow more frequent. Fang Yuan means to kill widely and build a fearsome name beyond Shang clan city, reasoning that reputation matters greatly once one travels beyond one’s own territory and can sometimes outweigh strength itself. He wants the Gu held in the Three Kings inheritance to complete his set of strength path Gu worms and carry him toward dominance of the mortal realm at rank five. Looking toward central continent, he notes that the Hu Immortal blessed land should also have opened by now, its intact inheritance from the rank six Gu Immortal Fairy Bai Hu many times better than the prize on San Cha mountain, but he has no way to reach it: he belongs to none of the ten great sects and so cannot enter the contest at Tian Ti mountain. ch. 337
The two kill any Gu Master they meet on the road, righteous or demonic alike, and their reputation spreads fast; Bai Ning Bing calls the killing splendid and says it leaves an impression others will carry their whole lives. Breath concealment Gu is only rank three, barely enough to mask their rank four cultivation, and both have had to replace much of their Gu since advancing to rank four initial stage. Where lesser demonic Gu Masters like Hei Shi once tried their luck against them, their spreading infamy now clears the road ahead untested. ch. 337
At the foot of San Cha mountain, several members of the Nan mountain gang called the Ten Tyrants corner a female Gu Master, tearing at her clothes as she backs away. She offers thirty thousand primeval stones to anyone who saves her, but nearby righteous Gu Masters retreat once they hear the gang’s name, since its leader is a rank four Gu Master. She runs to Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing and begs on her knees. The Ten Tyrants members freeze in fear on recognizing the black and white twin demons. Fang Yuan refuses her outright, asking whether she thinks her beauty or his kindness earns her rescue, then tells the Ten Tyrants to carry on: his journey here has been tedious, and he wants a good show. ch. 337
