Counterattack
Thunder Ghost True Monarch Jing Lan, a rank eight Gu Immortal with extremely high battle strength, has lived her whole life under Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s shadow. She woke because Dang Hun Mountain self-detonated, and she saw Spectral Soul captured and resisting futilely. She resolves to kill his inheritor Fang Yuan and so end the fear rooted deep in her heart. Laughing madly, she fires a beam of light at Fang Yuan. ch. 1557
A voice warns Jing Lan that something is wrong and tells her to stop. She answers that it is too late, but she is slightly stunned to recognize the junior Zi Wei, and she pulls back. Fang Yuan’s fearful look vanishes at once. In ancient sword dragon form, he flies straight into the beam instead of dodging. His body is covered in a reverse flow protection seal that has changed completely, a variation move, and it reflects the beam back completely. ch. 1557
Jing Lan fired this rank eight immortal killer move with all her strength, and it would have broken the old seal and killed Fang Yuan. Earlier she had fought while holding back, so bounced abilities were something she could absorb or endure. Now the distance between them is extremely close, her mood is intensely unsettled by Spectral Soul’s shadow, and her state is far from perfect. She cannot dodge and takes the beam head-on. Her armor disintegrates, and she falls unconscious, blood flowing from every pore. ch. 1557
In Heavenly Court, Fairy Zi Wei realizes she has fallen for Fang Yuan’s scheme. The earlier seal was a trap meant for her, and once she deduced it, Fang Yuan used the variation move to form a completely different one. She is baffled by Fang Yuan’s deep wisdom path attainment and wonders if he borrowed wisdom Gu, though only a rank nine venerable can refine that wild Gu. Heavenly Court’s records say Star Constellation Immortal Venerable needed close to a hundred years to subdue and refine it. The attack destroys the investigative killer move she had placed on Jing Lan, so she loses her view of the battle. She sends Chen Yi and others to reinforce Jing Lan and stays behind, since Duke Long is nurturing Feng Jin Huang and Spectral Soul needs constant monitoring. ch. 1557
Fang Yuan’s claws stab Jing Lan’s chest, but a rank eight passive armor of lightning appears and activates even though she is unconscious. It is already badly damaged from an earlier attack, so he tears through it, cutting her from the left shoulder to the right side of the waist and severing three of her rib bones. His claws stay completely intact under the essence-draining seal, without which they might have shattered. The pain wakes Jing Lan, and her shrill scream is an immortal killer move. The seal reflects it back, bursting her eardrums and sending blood out of her eyes. ch. 1557
Fang Yuan swings his tail. It knocks her from the air into the ground, leaving a ten feet wide crater. Her armor is gone, three ribs are split, and her heart and lungs can be seen from outside. His sword light dragon breath falls on her and forces her down on one knee, which fills her with humiliation at being made to kneel by a rank seven Gu Immortal. She roars, and blue lightning erupts from her pores into a hemispherical barrier that burns the dragon breath and the surrounding miasma to a crisp. Fang Yuan judges this is likely her last burst of strength, calls her a spent force, and roars the order for myriad dragon. ch. 1557
