Northern Icy Plain

White icy land fills the sight. Intense wind drives countless snowflakes and even icicles; blizzard blinds vision and demands cold defense. ^{ch. 1053}

Hei Lou Lan says she chose that site because she had clues to Attitude Gu there, and only the heavenly might of that tribulation let her subdue it. ^{ch. 948}

The site is the northernmost end of Northern Plains, known as the northern icy plain: white icy land, harsh wind, snowflakes and icicles in blizzard that cut vision and demand cold defense. It was once grassland. A devastating battle by experts destroyed the terrain into void, then the victor, Reckless Savage Demon Venerable, turned into an immemorial desolate beast ice phoenix and breathed absolute profound ice to freeze and restore the place. ^{ch. 1053}

The icy plain holds Reckless Savage Demon Venerable’s true meaning in strength path and transformation path. When strength path or transformation path Gu Masters ascend there, dao marks resonate and that true meaning manifests through the earthly calamity; destroying the calamity brings an infusion equal to receiving his guidance. Hei Lou Lan had already used that site for her ascension for that reason. ^{ch. 1053}

Fang Yuan returns to undergo tribulation with immortal tribulation tempering aperture, hoping to draw Reckless Savage true meaning again beyond a one-time ascension infusion. ^{ch. 1053}

Northern Plains’ icy plain is created by Reckless Savage Demon Venerable and contains Reckless Savage true meaning, so immortal ascension there evokes that true meaning and can hugely boost transformation path or strength path attainment. ^{ch. 1552}

Chu Du states that in the northern icy plain a strength path Gu Master’s immortal ascension triggers Reckless Savage’s true meaning instead of mingling with heaven’s will, and strength path and transformation path attainment rise sharply. ^{ch. 1056} Chu Du stays secluded on the plain to excavate that true meaning. ^{ch. 1057} Choosing the northern icy plain is called a wise move against heaven’s will: that will strengthens his earthly calamity, but Reckless Savage’s true meaning replaces a portion of heaven’s will and greatly reduces the danger. ^{ch. 1060}

Snowman Gu Immortals call it an icy plain without land that Reckless Savage Demon Venerable created singlehandedly, with thinner heaven and earth qi than elsewhere; many tribulations consume that qi until glaciers shatter and the place grows unstable. They also call it the final paradise left for snowmen, who live under the icy plain and avoid conflict with the rest of the world. ^{ch. 1098} The northern icy plain rarely has humans, with almost no resources on it. Reckless Savage Demon Venerable created that desolate land, and the only wealth Gu Immortals seek there is Reckless Savage’s true meaning, which Chu Du desires. ^{ch. 1140} Snowmen and rockmen live in hiding below the plain. Shi Shi Cheng says the surface was previously pure icy land, and only Lady Earth Mother’s methods gathered earth qi and formed soil there; each Gu Immortal tribulation draws and consumes heaven and earth qi, weakens earth qi, and shrinks the land they can live on. ^{ch. 1144} Fang Yuan tells Chu Du what is hidden under the northern icy plain, including the snowman and rockman tribes and the human calamity he faced while undergoing tribulation there. Chu Du is shocked that the empty plain hides such a powerful variant human force. Chu Du says they cannot continue to undergo tribulation there; he refuses a plan that would announce the tribes and draw all of Northern Plains onto them, because a huge battle would destroy the icy plain and yield nothing. ^{ch. 1182}
