Chapter 601

Even a thousand steps away, Fang Yuan feels the supreme true inheritance’s aura wash over him, and countless thoughts and memories surge up in his mind like a waterfall crashing into a still pond. The feeling is intoxicating. Old problems seem to solve themselves, and an overwhelming self confidence rises in him, as if nothing were beyond his control. ^{ch. 601}

Mo Yao shouts him awake, warning that losing himself will kill him. Fang Yuan looks down and finds his body has aged in moments, wrinkled, weak, his once strong arms feeling old and decayed. He retreats at once using his movement Gu. The secluded domain does not forbid Gu use, and the supreme inheritance itself is not chasing him, only drifting on along its own path. ^{ch. 601}

From a safe distance, Fang Yuan reasons that if the mere aura almost cost him his life, the actual test of a supreme true inheritance must be worse still. Mo Yao’s warning that he is too weak proves true. ^{ch. 601}

Fang Yuan guesses, with almost eighty percent certainty, that the Immortal Gu sealed inside is a Gu of legend, though the answer shocks him too much to quite believe it. Mo Yao confirms the guess. She names it the rank nine Gu of legend, wisdom Gu. It grants endless wisdom to a Gu Master, but Legends of Ren Zu records that Ren Zu and Desolate Ancient Moon both had to give up their middle age to gain its help. ^{ch. 601}

Fang Yuan’s rapid aging is proof enough that wisdom Gu spends lifespan. He reasons Giant Sun must have relied on it often in his own hunt for longevity, and Mo Yao adds that heavier use only shortened Giant Sun’s own life further without ever giving him the answer he wanted. Historical record puts Giant Sun’s own life at just over eight thousand years, inside a range that runs from Primordial Origin Immortal Venerable’s twenty-five thousand down to Red Lotus Demon Venerable’s three thousand, with most venerables living around seven thousand. ^{ch. 601}

Fang Yuan wants to see the other two supreme inheritances, and Mo Yao warns him off, since his ten edge token can only claim an ordinary inheritance anyway, and his weak body cannot bear their aura at all. He keeps exploring anyway. Over the following days he passes over ordinary and unparalleled inheritances alike, brushing against death several times but always escaping. ^{ch. 601}

Growing desperate, Mo Yao finally gives in and names the other two: a luck path inheritance built on Giant Sun’s own invincible mastery of luck, and control rights over Eighty-Eight True Yang Building itself. Giant Sun and Long Hair Ancestor refined that building together. Whoever controls it, she says, can plunder the Gu worms of an entire region. ^{ch. 601}

Fang Yuan keeps wandering as the domain narrows and the trailing lights of the true inheritances weave into a web he must thread carefully through. He asks Mo Yao whether he could profit if two true inheritances collided, and she dismisses the idea as naive, insisting Giant Sun would never leave so obvious a flaw. Moments later, two true inheritances actually collide nearby. ^{ch. 601}

Mo Yao recognizes the cracked one as the luck path supreme inheritance, one she herself once forced a crack into while failing to claim a fortune rivaling heaven Gu from it, settling instead for calamity beckoning Gu. A second collision knocks a Gu loose. At Mo Yao’s urging, since the collision has already broken the shell and left no test to face, Fang Yuan grabs it, a rank five mortal Gu rather than an Immortal one. ^{ch. 601}

Still Fang Yuan refuses to leave, to Mo Yao’s continued alarm. He says the moment is almost ready, then releases a swarm of Gu worms that spin together into a whirlpool, drawing in every true inheritance light around him. The whirlpool collapses into a doorway, and Fang Yuan throws himself through it, declaring it all according to plan. On the other side, he sees the land spirit. ^{ch. 601}
