Xia Cha finds a formation core and destroys it with a rank eight killer move, but a second spiral entrance opens. An immemorial year dragon jumps out, and Lu Wei Yin moves for the first time, grasping it in a huge yellow hand despite its struggles. Fang Yuan notes that Lu Wei Yin has not shown even half his strength yet is already among the strongest rank eights. An immemorial year snake and an immemorial year chicken with the aura of wild Immortal Gu then enter, and vast numbers of year beasts follow. The immortals want to destroy part of the formation to send word and call reinforcements, but Xia Cha cannot find a second core. She thinks of going all out to force a flaw herself. As the immemorial year chicken approaches, she injures it heavily with the immortal killer move Spring Scissors. Fang Yuan activates the formation, and the chicken vanishes. He enslaves it forcibly, as in the previous life, using the Southern Border immortals’ strength to weaken it, for he means to gather twelve different immemorial year beasts. ch. 1784
Fang Yuan teleports the chicken away, and the extra insight lets Xia Cha find and destroy a second core, which turns into another spiral entrance. Ba Shi Ba wants to act, but Xia Cha and Lu Wei Yin make him wait while they probe the formation, and he agrees reluctantly. Many immortals are injured and exhausted. They have spent on year beasts the killer moves prepared for Fang Yuan. Lu Wei Yin and Xia Cha persevere under huge pressure, and thanks to them Fang Yuan enslaves more immemorial year beasts. He takes only elites, in much smaller numbers than in the previous life, mainly because his soul cultivation is much lower. ch. 1784
Xia Cha destroys two more cores, which become spiral entrances. Fang Yuan notes that his modified formation can sustain at most five spiral entrances where it once held at most three. After only one day and night, the immortals’ expenditure is already greater than in the previous life, when the battle lasted two days and one night.
