Fang and Fang Scheming Each Other
Fang Yuan crosses a sandstorm to heavenly dew oasis, whose huge area holds a large lake almost like a small sea. Hundreds of acupuncture trees ring the lake as its first defense, ordinary ones the most numerous, beside several hundred desolate plant trees and about ten ancient ones as large as mountains. They fight strong enemies with strength and sharp needles. Their leaves, branches and roots are all Gu materials, and their needles can give a favored visitor a liquid that heals and lengthens life. Ignoring the lake, these trees alone make the oasis a giant resource point, one of Western Desert’s top ten oases. ch. 1778
The other Western Desert forces have been suppressing Fang clan and taking its smaller resource points, so the attack on the oasis touches its limit of tolerance and Fang Gong shows deep anger. A mysterious soul path Gu Immortal has destroyed half the formation and is rampaging inside. Fang Yuan arrives without concealing his aura and attacks him. The Fang clan Gu Immortal defending the oasis asks for help, but Fang Yuan only tells him to defend. Fang Yuan takes control of the tempo, declares himself the wisdom path Suan Bu Jin, a newly joined external supreme elder, and says he will take the intruder’s life. The intruder seems to use a killer move with deep backlash, turns pale and very weakened, and flees at great speed with Fang Yuan chasing. ch. 1778
At Fang clan’s headquarters, Fang Di Chang remarks that Suan Bu Jin made the strong enemy retreat quickly. Fang Gong notes that Suan Bu Jin returned midway, saying he feared a trap. Fang Di Chang replies that Suan Bu Jin may have sensed a scheme, or may have judged that forcing the enemy away was credit enough. Fang Gong asks about roping the newcomer into their secret plan, but Fang Di Chang calls the newcomer an uncertainty and proposes letting him defend the oasis while the rank seven defender now there joins the plan. This, Fang Di Chang argues, would show Fang clan gives outsiders a chance, bring Suan Bu Jin huge fame, make him an eyesore to Western Desert’s righteous path and draw attention from the clan. Fang Gong laughs and admires Fang Di Chang deeply. ch. 1778
The next day, Fang Yuan finds himself left to defend the oasis alone, with the rank seven defender deployed elsewhere. He judges that the battle’s publicity put Western Desert’s righteous path onto him, and that Fang clan’s experts seem to be attempting something big. In his previous life Suan Bu Jin was exposed, so he did not learn what Fang clan did before leading the attack on Emperor City. He wonders whether the righteous path concealed the truth together or whether the ink effect has spread here. Lacking information, he can only wait and see. ch. 1778
Fang Yuan contacts Ying Wu Xie, a soul path Gu Immortal who is already inside green ghost desert. Fang Yuan had secretly brought him out of stone lotus island and given him Yang San Mu’s body, immortal aperture, soul path Gu worms and modified soul path killer moves. Ying Wu Xie has changed his appearance already, and Fang clan’s Gu Immortals would know him on sight, in fury, as the mysterious Gu Immortal who attacked the oasis the day before. Fang Yuan says Soul Beast Token is already handed over and orders Ying Wu Xie to develop the army and keep in contact. Having Fixed Immortal Travel’s killer move now, Fang Yuan can reinforce Ying Wu Xie at any time, but warns against ending up in an immortal battlefield or a formation space. Ying Wu Xie replies respectfully that soul beasts will be in unceasing supply. ch. 1778
