One successful cast clears Fang Yuan’s detrimental dao marks, including Wu clan’s alliance agreement, so he leaves Wu clan with no remaining tie of that kind. The move does not follow his wishes when choosing what is harmful: alliance agreements with Chu Du, Lang Ya land spirit, the variant humans, and Crazed Demon Cave stay because they are not harmful to him at that time. Fairy Zi Wei’s investigative dao marks are removed but regenerate within about six hours; one cast clears about ten percent, and full clearance would need continuous use for roughly half a month. Self cleansing is not a sustained move by default; each cast lasts a fixed duration. ^{ch. 1408}

Because self cleansing is a wisdom path killer move and Fang Yuan is a wisdom path grandmaster, he can modify it. He makes rank seven Perseverance Immortal Gu the second core so the move can run longer and keep clearing unfavorable dao marks. Even then, clearing inextinguishable star target would take at least a month of nonstop use and heavy immortal essence and mental energy, and the move still affects only the user unless others learn it. ^{ch. 1410}

Against Shen Shang, Fang Yuan activates Self Cleansing to strip harmful human path dao marks tying Shen Shang’s attacks to his body, then keeps using it while healing aboard Myriad Year Flying Warship. ^{ch. 1908}
