Formless Hand is Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable's signature theft path immortal killer move. It steals Gu worms, and finger count sets the highest rank it can seize.
When Fang Yuan’s tribulation at Eighty-Eight True Yang Building transforms into its final stage, Giant Sun’s will names the light blue giant hands as Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable’s killer move Formless Hand. Even after a Venerable’s death, some of their killer moves can reappear inside heavenly tribulations and earthly calamities. In life, the whole world was helpless when Thieving Heaven used formless hand to rob countless Gu worms. Finger count sets the ceiling: a five fingered formless hand can seize at most rank five Gu. In that tribulation the sky fills with formless hands, mostly one to five fingered, with rarer six, seven, and eight fingered hands among them. ch. 629
Battlefield traits
Formless hands are almost immune to attacks while flying and piercing obstacles; only after they steal a Gu and close into a fist do they become susceptible. ch. 635 Wisdom Gu does not fear ordinary formless hands: only a nine fingered formless hand can grab that rank nine Immortal Gu. ch. 638
Theft path essence
Fang Yuan later notes that formless hand is the essence of theft path and can capture Immortal Gu, unlike his strength path giant hand, which can only immobilize them briefly. ch. 783 Theft path is Thieving Heaven’s creation, and his signature immortal killer move formless hand is feared by countless Gu Immortals. ch. 946 Against Feng Jiu Ge, Fang Yuan recalls that Thieving Heaven’s signature method can interchange between phantom and solid, so sound waves would not force it out, and that it is extremely fast at stealing Immortal Gu one by one; great thief ghost hand holds only a small trace of that glory. ch. 1578
