Sole Blade Gu is a Gu kept on a blade. When activated, it can ignore defenses of the same level, and it can reach rank six at most.

Origin and rank ceiling

The Gu Immortal Blade Demon created it. Blade Demon once used a rank six Sole Blade Gu, then died in battle to Butterfly Sword Immortal, whose side consumed his blessed land. The recipe was not passed down. Many Sole Blade Gu remain in the mortal realm from gifts Blade Demon handed out while disguised as a mortal, and Pan Ping’s copy is treated as one of those gifts. Dong Fang Chang Fan states the Gu can reach rank six at most. ch. 519

Rank four limits

Pan Ping’s Sole Blade Gu is rank four. Ignoring defense does not always work, and after activation it needs eight hours of rest before it can be used again. ch. 526 It resides in his scimitar rather than in his body or aperture, and after he is blown apart and revived, that Gu is the only worm he keeps from before. ch. 538

Hei tribe clash

When the three-head six-arms monster presses Hei tribe’s side, Pan Ping shouts “Take my sole blade Gu!” then activates single blade Gu in the same strike. The activation lands a shallow wound on the monster’s chest before the wound recovers. ch. 534

Fang Yuan’s collection

After Pan Ping dies under Fang Yuan’s control of the fight, Fang Yuan stores the Gu worms from the corpses and singles out Sole Blade Gu as having collection value. ch. 580
