Chapter 723

The dragon and Shi Lei’s battle climbs toward its climax while Star Lord Wan Xiang, sidelined, can only watch, and Fang Yuan and Hei Lou Lan hide in the forest below. Hei Lou Lan reads it as a wind path azure dragon in life, its zombie form carrying dark path marks as well and its speed amplified by Immortal Gu. Fang Yuan identifies that Gu as wind sprint Immortal Gu, once Seven Star Child’s own, and says rumors of a killer move that lends its effect to another target now look right. Boosted in defense and movement and armed with zombie flames as strong as top mortal killer moves, the dragon holds every advantage. Shi Lei’s many tactics fail to change that. Hei Lou Lan judges Shi Lei’s strength far beyond her guess: she would fall to the dragon almost at once, and even Fang Yuan, lacking myriad self, could only last a little longer. Judging the fight unwinnable, Fang Yuan proposes abandoning the walking meat tree and retreating, and Hei Lou Lan agrees, since an accident could expose them for no gain. Once safely away, she asks how Shi Lei’s group even got in. Fang Yuan notes their own entry point had no investigative Gu nearby, which is unusual, since Gu Immortals do not normally behave this way. The two reason that Shi Lei’s group first arrived in that same area rather than through a star hall. Gu like connecting heaven Gu or hole earth Gu need mutual consent, and this grotto-heaven’s heavenly spirit has never appeared. Both watchers are startled. Inside, all three of the hall’s defenses, the boar, the tree, and the dragon, are gone, and the two move deep into the ruined battlefield to find the inner hall’s doors already open, Wan Xiang inside. He stands trembling with his back to them, then kneels before a dark throne and begs an Immortal Venerable for mercy. A woman in a dark blue robe then appears, her hair dazzling like the milky way, and orders the two intruders to kneel before Star Constellation Immortal Venerable. Her rank nine aura is undeniable: she is the real thing. ^{ch. 723}

Elsewhere, at Spirit Affinity House’s Bai Qing blessed land in Central Continent, Feng Jin Huang, left comatose for a long time by dream wings Immortal Gu, wakes when a sparrow’s chirp reaches her. Her mother, Fairy Bai Qing, rushes in overjoyed and in tears. Feng Jin Huang assures her she is unharmed and reveals she has found the true use of dream wings Immortal Gu: it can carry her into dream realms.
