Wisdom Gu descends quickly and its light of wisdom shrouds him, and once inside the halo his thoughts are created and destroyed at furious speed, aging him rapidly. Shocked, he looks up and sees wisdom Gu bearing down on him. ch. 639
Giant Sun’s will, having already lost a huge portion of its body, shrinks into a tiny ball and follows close behind. It had realized that detouring around wisdom Gu would let Fang Yuan escape, so it forced itself close enough to strike wisdom Gu and send it flying. Wisdom Gu still countered the blow, and only Giant Sun’s will’s greater size let it make contact at all, at a heavy cost. This sends wisdom Gu flying at Fang Yuan like a rubber ball. Fang Yuan praises Giant Sun’s will’s decision even as it works against him, laughing that if Giant Sun could make such a sacrifice, so could Gu Yue Fang Yuan. ch. 639
He endures the light of wisdom long enough to sweep up all of Giant Sun’s falling immortal essence. He then uses wind flower Gu to change direction and pull away from wisdom Gu, narrowly slipping past it as it continues to descend. Coughing without pause, he finally clears the light’s range, but his face has aged from a young man’s to a middle aged man’s. The closer to wisdom Gu, the more intense its light of wisdom becomes. Earlier, still a great distance from it inside the secluded domain, he lost two years of life in a few breaths; this time, so close and for so much longer, he loses more than ten years. Ordinary people live only a hundred years, which shows the heavy price he pays to snatch Giant Sun’s immortal essence. ch. 639
Giant Sun’s will pounces like an eagle, calling him a little scoundrel about to die. Fang Yuan senses death closing in and has only enough time to activate six arm heavenly zombie king before he is swatted down like a fly. He crashes into the ground, carving out a huge crater in a cloud of flying rock and dust. He regains his senses three breaths later. Six of his eight arms are broken, his spine and ribcage exposed through his back, and he is too dizzy to think clearly. The attack had sent a large amount of special will into his mind, trying to destroy it and disrupt his ability to think. ch. 639
Barely conscious, Fang Yuan still dodges without thinking, and Giant Sun’s will’s golden axe cuts away only his left arm and left leg instead of splitting him in two. As his mind clears, he pushes himself up. But Giant Sun’s will turns into a golden hammer and slams into him, shattering his ribcage and crushing his intestines while invading his mind again and plunging him into greater confusion. ch. 639
He is slammed along the ground like a rubber ball, clothes torn and covered in dust, until he sprawls motionless with his bones broken and flesh hanging open. His blood, deep green rather than red because of six arm heavenly zombie king, flows freely as his fangs show through a distorted, pain wracked expression. A great battle rages in his mind, and Giant Sun’s will has the upper hand there. Fang Yuan resists stubbornly but can barely think clearly, and only defeating that portion of Giant Sun’s will inside his own mind would let him reawaken fully. Giant Sun’s will has no intention of giving him that chance. It condenses into a golden sword sixteen meters long and six meters wide, giving off an indomitable aura said to hold the power to judge all beings. ch. 639
Far away, Hei Lou Lan, still holding the unconscious Tai Bai Yun Sheng, calls this Giant Sun’s will’s true battle strength and says it is too terrifying. Giant Sun’s will had already refined many Immortal Gu, been struck by wisdom Gu, and been attacked by more than twenty Gu Immortals. It only forced its way through to send wisdom Gu flying by sacrificing itself, leaving its mass a fraction of what it was while slumbering. Even so, Fang Yuan cannot fight back at all. Giant Sun’s will has not used a single Immortal Gu, which is why Hei Lou Lan watches with such nervousness. But Hei Lou Lan calms himself and reconsiders: the special will is not truly this strong, and Giant Sun struck at the perfect unprepared moment to land a serious blow. Hei Lou Lan reasons that the deciding factor is Old Ancestor Giant Sun’s own inherited battle experience, ruthless and decisive, striking at an opponent’s weakness the instant an opening appears and giving no chance to fight back. He judges the mind invasion especially dangerous. It is essentially impossible to counter, he thinks, and he reminds himself to be careful of it when he next fights a wisdom path Gu Master. ch. 639
Hei Lou Lan watches the sword hang over Fang Yuan’s brain. He mutters that this guy is finished. His great foe has landed in this state through a mistake that was strictly not his own fault, and Hei Lou Lan feels some relief, some joy, and even a little sadness. Giant Sun’s will draws its strength from the battle experience it inherited from Giant Sun Immortal Venerable, and even though Fang Yuan carries five hundred years of experience, Giant Sun’s will holds far more. Once it gains an opening it attacks without pause, widening its advantage and giving Fang Yuan no room to recover his footing. Giant Sun Immortal Venerable was not only lucky, Hei Lou Lan reflects; this shows an invincible, firm and domineering battle talent as well. ch. 639
Hei Lou Lan says it is over, looking at the unconscious Tai Bai Yun Sheng in his arms, his only ally left inside the wind veil. He throws Tai Bai Yun Sheng to the ground and fixes his gaze on the sword of Giant Sun’s will. The sword shoots down soundlessly, its tip aimed at Fang Yuan’s brain. Even in his six arm heavenly zombie king form, a pierced skull would let Giant Sun’s will destroy his brain and his entire soul in one truly fatal blow. With Tai Bai Yun Sheng fainted and Fang Yuan unconscious, neither has any way to fight back. ch. 639
Just as the sword’s tip closes to within an inch of Fang Yuan’s forehead, a water wall suddenly appears, and a shrill woman’s voice warns that with her here, no one may take his life. Hei Lou Lan gasps and asks who this is, watching the water wall’s surface spiral around the sword’s tip and hold it from descending. A strong aura bursts from Fang Yuan’s body at the same moment, and Giant Sun’s will pulls its sword back, retreating hundreds of steps. It recognizes her voice, recalling that over ten thousand years ago she broke into Eighty-Eight True Yang Building and freed fortune rivalling heaven Gu. Mo Yao laughs, saying she is surprised he remembers. ch. 639
The water wall becomes a liquid armor over Fang Yuan’s body. Its light blue glow rapidly heals his broken limbs, flesh, and bones. Giant Sun’s will remembers her because Eighty-Eight True Yang Building held recording Gu worms that filmed everything that happened inside it. After Fang Yuan woke it, it used those recordings to learn Mo Yao’s voice and appearance, Fang Yuan’s name, and his deeds there, which is how it exposed the Chang Shan Yin impersonation. Furious, Giant Sun’s will calls them shameless thieves who have targeted his True Yang Building for tens of thousands of years and attacks with the golden sword flying like lightning, but the rainbow it draws only ripples the liquid armor without piercing it. ch. 639
Fang Yuan wakes slowly. He recognizes the armor on him as the rank seven Immortal Gu House Water Pavilion. It turns out Water Pavilion had been hidden on him since an unknown time, and Mo Yao’s will activated it to protect him once his life fell into danger and his mind grew chaotic. Just as Giant Sun’s will can control Eighty-Eight True Yang Building, which held Giant Sun’s own yellow apricot immortal essence, Mo Yao’s will can naturally manipulate Water Pavilion, which holds Fairy Mo Yao’s red date immortal essence. Mo Yao’s will tells him he is finally awake, warns that the immortal essence her main body left behind is limited and Water Pavilion’s upkeep costly, and urges him to take over the fight while she defends his mind. ch. 639
