His only complaint is that the transformed appearance is too ugly and evil. A servant tells Chang Biao that Pan Ping has arrived. The leader warns that if they alert the iron beak bird group they are finished, since they are only there to steal eggs and retreat, and he will personally kill whoever ruins it. He is the only rank three Gu Master present, so the others obey. Panicked, some blame Ma Hong Yun and vow to settle the score with him if they survive. The leader sees the birds are flying south, realizes it was not them who caused it, and is overjoyed to guess that others took the Chang tribe’s mission instead. A group of Gu Masters, chased by the densely packed bird flock, flies toward them shouting for help. The leader shouts that he will kill them first if they come closer. ch. 577
Ma Hong Yun says by their clothes, they are Chang tribesmen. Furious, the leader tells him to go save them himself if he wants to die, since the Chang tribesmen keep rushing toward them regardless. Recalling that he was nearly killed trying to warn Jiang Dong during the earth chief beast group encounter, Ma Hong Yun asks the leader what to do. The leader orders everyone to split up and run. Ma Hong Yun, dazed, picks a direction and runs. ch. 577
The fleeing Chang tribesmen stay coolheaded despite looking pathetic. Their leader, Chang Biao’s confidant, recognizes Ma Hong Yun as Ma Ying Jie’s confidant. Chang tribe had already learned Ma Hong Yun owns a complete set of high quality rank two Gu worms through their scheming. Their leader is shocked that Ma Hong Yun is not using a movement Gu. ch. 577

At the last moment, she stretches out her leg and trips him. Ma Hong Yun falls flat, turns around, and is struck by how beautiful she is, since he is normally dull but still at an age drawn to girls. Chang Li addresses him as young master and asks him to save her, and her voice makes his heart flutter. He carries her and runs. ch. 577
