Ambush and destruction
During Fei tribe’s internal disorder at warm pond valley, Ma tribe brings a huge army and starts war without notice. The invasion was planned in advance and takes advantage of that disorder as an ambush. Fei tribe holds the valley’s easy-to-defend ground but cannot resist Ma tribe’s soldiers, and the large scale Huang Jin family force occupying the valley is exterminated. On a slope afterward, Ma higher-ups watch the ruined Fei tribe camp while goods and captives are taken away; an elder congratulates young tribe leader Ma Ying Jie for driving discord inside Fei tribe so Ma tribe could capture the valley and swallow Fei tribe. ch. 488
Heroes assembly talk
Ma Ying Jie tells Ma higher-ups that annihilating Fei tribe will help their progress in Tian Chuan’s heroes assembly. He later frames swallowing Fei tribe as only the first step before stronger opponents on the road to Imperial Court. ch. 489
