Chang Shan Yin's death
In his aperture, Fang Yuan finds the white bone wheel half sunk in his primeval sea, lifeless. Only bone bamboo Gu combined with ghost fire Gu could repair it. Many healing Gu are not meant for human bodies, such as wolf smoke Gu for wolves and pig iron Gu for chainsaw golden centipede. The wheel is famous because the rank eight Demonic Gu Immortal Shen Jie Ao, the Proud Bone Demon Lord, used it. Lacking a rank six Gu at rank six, he built White Bone Chariot from many rank five Gu such as the white bone wheel, matching a rank six Gu. ch. 431
That ingenuity took Shen Jie Ao to rank eight, where White Bone Battlefield, combining three Immortal Gu, outdid the chariot. He dominated the world with it, killing uncountable Gu Immortals and leaving the righteous path helpless. Fang Yuan lived about five hundred years in his past life and reached rank six Gu Immortal, then self-detonated when the righteous path attacked him. Blood Sea Ancestor and Soul Specter Demon Venerable impress him too. ch. 431
Fang Yuan wraps the dusty bright pearl Gu, with Fixed Immortal Travel sealed inside, in the black cocoon of dark toss Gu. This method, tossing pearls in the dark, comes from the battle of the five regions. It is meant to hide a Gu’s aura completely, so Fixed Immortal Travel’s aura turns even fainter. Ge Yao, knowing him as Chang Shan Yin, asks if he is sealing up the jade butterfly in the pearl. He only smiles and returns to studying the battlefield. ch. 431
The battlefield dates from a fight twenty years ago between Chang Shan Yin, a rank four peak stage Gu Master, and Ha Tu Gu, a rank five initial stage Gu Master with a large band. Childhood friends, they loved the same woman, and when she chose Chang Shan Yin, Ha Tu Gu’s jealousy bred a mutual hatred only the other’s blood could wash away. After Ha Tu Gu poisoned Chang Shan Yin’s mother, Chang Shan Yin led wolf packs deep into the poisonous plains for snow wash Gu and ambushed the arriving bandits. The fight ended with every wolf dead and the horse bandits dead or fled. Both men, spent, wrestled bare-handed until they collapsed. ch. 431
Ha Tu Gu recovered essence first and cast a poisonous bone spear that pierced Chang Shan Yin’s chest. Chang Shan Yin broke it with wolf strength Gu and stabbed it into Ha Tu Gu’s eyes, killing him. The poison had already spread, so he spent his recovered essence on wolf fetus burial Gu. Its specialty is saving a life so long as one breath is left. He drilled into the ground and slept. ch. 431
In the history Fang Yuan knows, Ma Hong Yun, a rank three Gu Master chased by wolves, found the buried man about thirty years later. Chang Shan Yin helped him become one of four great generals. Ma Hong Yun, born a slave, became lord of the imperial court. With Ma Hong Yun’s aid Chang Shan Yin later became a rank seven Gu Immortal with the title Sky Wolf General and died resisting the Central Continent. ch. 431
Fang Yuan finds the huge wolf tail Ma Hong Yun originally tripped on and pulls it out. The land writhes, and a huge female wolf’s body rises. Fang Yuan says it is a Gu and cuts open its belly. Out comes the true Chang Shan Yin, green-skinned, with half a bone spear in him. Fang Yuan squats as if to examine him and secretly pinches his neck. Chang Shan Yin dies unconscious, unable to resist or self-detonate his Gu, with only a faint breath, and that future is cut short. ch. 431
In the dead man’s aperture, Fang Yuan finds several tortoise breath Gu, in which Chang Shan Yin had sealed his Gu worms. Leaking the aura of Spring Autumn Cicada, Fang Yuan refines them and crushes them while Ge Yao watches. Inside are eight enslavement path Gu, precious rank four Gu worms, some more precious than ordinary rank five. Chang Shan Yin meticulously arranged the set, made his reputation in northern plains with it and killed rank five Gu Masters using it. All of them become Fang Yuan’s. With a faint smile he says he finally has an excellent set of rank four Gu from northern plains. ch. 431
