Longevity Edict

Prince Feng Xian says the Longevity Edict can control the Huang Jin bloodline but does not bind him, and that Gong tribe tried to use it to deceive him into helping them. Days later the edict passes through the Huang Jin tribes and ends in Yao Huang’s hands. He receives it with a deep sigh, remarking that it ended up with him after all, and throws it onto a table casually. He does not want to involve himself: he is busy refining resurrection from the dead Immortal Gu, the interruption is severe, and it puts him in a bad mood. Meeting Heavenly Lord Bai Zu in white heaven, he calls it Longevity Heaven’s token and says that he does not want to interfere either but cannot help it now that the token is in his hands. The two friends settle on a Blood Plain martial competition rather than an immediate fight, letting juniors go first. ^{ch. 1190}

At the blood battle gathering, Yao tribe is called the current holder of the Longevity Edict. Yao Yuan Ying offers it three times to Gong Wan Ting, who refuses twice and then accepts, looking forced, before seating herself in Golden Dawn Hall. ^{ch. 1193}

Reading the blood battle martial competition as a political compromise, Fang Yuan works out that Yao Huang was already reluctant when he received the edict and needed only an explanation to hand back to Longevity Heaven. Fang Yuan judges that Longevity Heaven is dreaming if it means to rely on the Longevity Edict alone to destroy the alliance between Chu Sect and Bai Zu tribe, and that only sending rank eight experts to kill Heavenly Lord Bai Zu would do it. ^{ch. 1207}

He tells Heavenly Lord Bai Zu that as long as Longevity Heaven’s rank eight Gu Immortals do not show up, the Longevity Edict alone cannot mobilize them. ^{ch. 1235}
