When almost dying, Lord Sky Crane uses the life-retaining Jade Burial Gu, living through death and sealing himself. With Immortal Crane Sect help he uses the life-preserving Jade Burial Gu, falling into a deep sleep and preserving his last bit of life. That method and First gen Gu Yue’s zombie turn are both unorthodox desperate measures; life-preserving life burial hangs onto life but does not increase lifespan. ch. 192

Jade coffin effect
Pressed under Bai Ning Bing’s ice after the First Generation fight, Lord Sky Crane activates Life-retaining Jade Burial Gu. Green jade light covers him and hardens into a transparent jade coffin Bai Ning Bing cannot scratch, so he buries the coffin under more ice. Two days later a jade light bursts from within the ice and hovers in the air, turning into a jade coffin. The coffin explodes as Lord Sky Crane frees himself. Life-retaining Jade Burial Gu is a rank five Gu: if the Gu Master still has one breath of life, it can suspend life and delay injuries, and the jade coffin is strong enough to count as a defensive weapon. ch. 199
Name form and limit
A wall recording at Immortal Crane Sect shows that after Bai Ning Bing’s self-detonation suppressed him, Lord Sky Crane was forced to use the Life-burial Jade Gu, broke out of the ice, and found only Fang Zheng under it. Reporting to He Feng Yang, he says his lifespan is at its limit with only a few days left, and even the life-burial jade gu cannot change his fate. ch. 211
