Air Bubble Fish

Little Hu Immortal raises the roe in three lakes of Hu Immortal blessed land, under starry clouds thick with star fragment grass and starlight fireflies, guarding the lakes herself. The hatchlings resemble goldfish, milky white with round bellies and small tails, and they swim unlike other fish, moving by bobbing up and down. Knowledge from his previous life lets Fang Yuan raise their reproduction rate by thirty percent, which puts him at the front among Gu Immortals in this. ^{ch. 491} The blessed land’s starlight fireflies expand to three times their earlier scale, and thanks to the fish the starlight firefly Gu among them run fifty to sixty above Little Hu Immortal’s first estimate. ^{ch. 508} Even with the fish, Fang Yuan spends starlight firefly Gu faster than the blessed land produces them, since each opening of the stargate uses large numbers. ^{ch. 551}

To fund his sixth ink transformation, Fang Yuan sells off rockmen, fox groups, wolf groups, hairy men, and some of his air bubble fish. ^{ch. 581} The foreseen fight has taken place and its poison has turned air bubble sea into a death zone, so with production down sharply the price stands at least ten times what it was. Fang Yuan expects a higher price still in the five regions war, because a group of these fish raises the rate at which mortal Gu appear in insect groups. ^{ch. 667} Gu Immortals normally breed their own mortal Gu rather than pay this price, but in wartime their expenditure of mortal Gu is huge; having sold off nearly all his stock too soon, Fang Yuan takes a loss instead of a profit, and means to buy a huge group cheaply once the sea is repaired, and wonders whether to breed them in large numbers for a large profit in the five regions war. ^{ch. 668}

Air bubble sea, which produces abundant air bubble fish, is owned by Ni clan, Qiu clan, and Ba clan, who are left with the poisoned sea on their hands after the Gu Immortals’ fight. ^{ch. 673}

Raiding Dong Fang tribe’s Jade Pool blessed land, Fang Yuan takes a large air bubble fish group from one of its pools; it ranks third in value among that day’s plunder, priced at about half of a desolate beast shark fin wolf. ^{ch. 800} A demonic path Gu Immortal plundering the same blessed land passes on word of another pool there holding large groups of air bubble fish, with several Gu Immortals fighting over it. ^{ch. 798} Little Hu Immortal places the plundered group with the fish already in the east of Hu Immortal blessed land, expecting the larger stock to raise starlight firefly Gu production further. ^{ch. 809} Fang Yuan rules out selling any of the air bubble fish for that reason. ^{ch. 810}

Fang Yuan digs a lake for the air bubble fish lined with jade root soil, an icy soil that turns to jade when squeezed; living there greatly increases the fish’s lifespan and vigor, and the lake takes the soil’s name. ^{ch. 825} It sits opposite dragon scale lake, which is lined with dragon scale soil that gives his dragonfish a greater urge to procreate. ^{ch. 825 ch. 826}

Fang Yuan later stocks artificial lakes in Mini Eastern Sea, a layer of his sovereign immortal aperture, with air bubble fish groups alongside dragonfish and literature carp groups. ^{ch. 1159} He later counts the group among his assets there. ^{ch. 1291} The fish are eventually kept in shallow seas below a blood lake in Mini Eastern Sea, with literature carps and jade carps. ^{ch. 1461}
