Air Bubble Fish
Through connecting heaven Gu, Fang Yuan finds a turtleback myriad wolf king on sale, ten times larger than ordinary turtleback wolves. His wolf group is turtleback, night and wind wolves, about ten thousand each, plus a few poison beard wolves and over a hundred water wolves. Battles and the removal of the old, weak and injured to Hu Immortal blessed land have cut it below twenty-five thousand. Ordinary enslavement path Gu Masters must hunt for new beasts. He can buy them in treasure yellow heaven instead, though no wolf on sale is a desolate beast like the peach wolf he knows Lang Ya blessed land holds. Such deals are extremely common, since blessed lands sell surplus beasts and other Gu Immortals buy beasts for their ecology. ch. 476
Only his night wolf group has a myriad beast king, and kings over the wind and turtleback wolves would greatly lighten the burden on his soul. So he wants to strengthen his wolf group rather than replace it. Little Hu Immortal asks the price, and the seller, South Sea Turtle Immortal, wants ten thousand stalks of blowpipe grass. Fang Yuan has none, for the grass is only buried seeds this season, so he has her ask about immortal essence stones. He scoffs at the seller’s offer of twenty thousand turtleback wolves for two stones as very expensive. After haggling he pays one stone for thirty thousand turtleback wolves and the myriad wolf king. ch. 476
He then buys eighteen thousand wind wolves with a wind wolf myriad beast king, and replenishes twenty thousand night wolves, five thousand poison beard wolves and six thousand water wolves. In all he spends two and a half immortal essence stones. Without enough food in Hu Immortal blessed land, the wolves would starve, or they and the fox groups that live on its rabbits and pheasants would hunt each other, and the losses would exceed the profits. Those foxes were badly damaged in the sixth earthly calamity and are slowly recovering. Fang Yuan buys food for both. ch. 476
Choosing fish, he suddenly finds a Gu Immortal selling air bubble fish roes. Others bid, so he raises the price at once to one immortal essence stone for just over twenty thousand roes. The Gu Immortals mock him, since only around thirty percent survive to hatch. If his memory holds, a fight between two Gu Immortals at the year’s end will poison the air bubble sea and lift the price over ten folds. Without so high an opening price, the wise Gu Immortals would have made the roes extremely hard for him to get. ch. 476
Air bubble fish are translucent and round bellied. Their fins and tail are so small that their movement power is very weak. They move by rising and falling, float into the air when in danger, and some mature ones live in the air all year on tiny insects. Worms they devour evolve into Gu in the belly, so the fish raise Gu worm production and are sought after in the battle of five regions. Raised carefully, they will sustain themselves in dozens of years and reach at least fifty thousand in a hundred. ch. 476
Fat mudfish would eat the roes. Gold harms the reproduction of air bubble fish, which rules out gold koi. Rockmen in the blessed land supply gemstones, which are harmless, so he chooses blue jade carps, solving the water wolves’ food. For the other wolves he buys pink rabbit and iron-shell flowers, and for the poison beard wolves earth skin pigs, put in the eastern part. ch. 476
Finally he buys many Gu worms and refinement materials, spending eight immortal essence stones in all and hundreds of thousands of primeval stones. Of the twenty-eight stones earned from remnant recipes, only twenty remain. Recipes sell cheaper the more are sold, and the fish and starlight firefly Gu pay only after a hundred years, so he must spend carefully. He hands connecting heaven Gu to Little Hu Immortal to manage the residence, the wolf and fish groups, the iron-shell flowers and the roes. Then he enters Dang Hun palace and refines Gu with the new materials. ch. 476
