Unmoving Troops
Once eight doors labyrinth falls, Yu Lu blessed land’s true appearance opens: a broad space filled with drifting, rippling lights of every color, holding no sky, ground, living beings or resources for a Gu Immortal to accumulate. Fang Yuan judges this very emptiness may be why the blessed land can host battlefield killer moves of many paths at once, since a battlefield killer move’s dao marks normally clash with a blessed land’s own. He has already met three inside it, freezing rain frozen earth, fighting soul battlefield and eight doors labyrinth, moves from different paths that would not normally sit in one Gu Immortal’s hands yet do not clash here at all. Fairy Yu Lu trained under Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable, Su Bai Man notes. Tai Bai Yun Sheng adds that learning her methods would be a huge gain for their own apertures. A golden, willow branch shaped Gu worm briefly surfaces and vanishes into one of the lights, confirming Immortal Gu exist here. ch. 917
Shark Demon, overjoyed, expects the biggest personal reward for taking down the blessed land, at least one or two Immortal Gu on top of a huge sum of contribution points from Zombie Alliance. He hopes especially for one that could help him and Su Bai Man revive and shed their zombie status. The couple had made a huge investment in this invasion, almost exhausting their savings, and a single rank seven Immortal Gu would essentially repay it all. Shark Demon promises the group compensation by contribution once the blessed land is captured, a line that also warns against rashness. Everyone nods and steps back to let him go first. ch. 917
Shark Demon strikes toward the golden Immortal Gu in a flash. Space ripples, and he reappears beside the group, shocked; everyone else trying to advance is thrown back to the same spot. The group concludes this is a space path battlefield killer move, one with no offensive power but more profound than the others: the legendary Unmoving Troops. It was created personally by Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable, mild and kind unlike the other nine Gu Immortal Venerables, and it strips the ability to move from anyone entering with battle intent, malice or lust. Before reaching rank nine, he once used it alone to subdue the rank seven sound path Gu Immortal Gao Ming, who could not close even one step; broken by the defeat, Gao Ming became his guard from then on. ch. 917
Fang Yuan suggests they empty their minds, since the barrier answers to intent and thought. Only a few, Fang Yuan among them, manage true no thought, since most Gu Immortals’ desires break the state as they advance. But a thoughtless body cannot move or seize a Gu worm at all, so the battlefield killer move is not even needed to stop those who succeed. The group despairs, guessing that Fairy Yu Lu meant to lure out their hope and desire on purpose to deepen the difficulty. Su Bai Man suggests retreating for reinforcements if they truly cannot succeed. ch. 917
Having once lost an Immortal Gu paying an outside wisdom path Gu Immortal for help, Shark Demon turns instead to Fang Yuan, now part of Eastern Sea Zombie Alliance, and asks whether he has any means. Fang Yuan answers that unraveling it is both easy and difficult. Easy, he explains, because Gao Ming lost only to a move that Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable was controlling, while this copy stands unmanned and, the others agree, cannot transform and replenish. But personally, he adds, unraveling it is extremely difficult for him, almost hopeless, which turns the group’s hope into anger at him. One Gu Immortal snaps that he is only toying with them. Fang Yuan bows to Shark Demon and states solemnly that he is not toying with anyone, and is truly restricted only by a lack of resources. If he could refine a wisdom path Immortal Gu, he says, he would have great confidence of unraveling Unmoving Troops for certain. ch. 917
