Fang Yuan locates four more spots of hidden mortal Gu. None are findable by direct investigation, only by his star thoughts. Wary of repeating his mistake, he does not destroy them and keeps observing. ch. 890
He finds one Gu forming a crucial spot in the killer move. Destroying it would cut the freezing rain and snow monsters’ power by fifty to sixty percent. But deduction warns the next attack would arrive sooner and hit three times as hard. ch. 890
Fang Yuan judges the risk too high to act. If the attack triples, ancient desolate beast snow monsters might appear, and losing concentration even once could bring severe consequences. This concerns only the outer layer of mortal Gu; wrong methods against the inner layer bring a still fiercer backlash. He leaves the Gu alone and keeps probing, making no progress for a time. ch. 890
By the fourth wave, an immortal zombie sighs over the cost. Bo Dan presses the point: what use is spending more for no result? He needles Fang Yuan to abandon mortal techniques for immortal level wisdom path methods. ch. 890
Fang Yuan understands why Bo Dan targets him, but the provocation still stings. Immortal essence is hard for an immortal zombie to obtain, and he guesses at the others’ frustration over the mounting cost. He signals Tai Bai Yun Sheng through moving perspective cup Gu, who publicly rebukes Bo Dan for wanting to quit halfway through the wave. Bo Dan, knowing Tai Bai Yun Sheng is Shark Demon’s favorite with a precious healing Immortal Gu, backs down, claiming he was misunderstood. ch. 890
Shark Demon calms the group and decides they will endure through the fourth wave. Sensing Shark Demon will not stay for a fifth wave, Fang Yuan decides a strong impression matters most. He strikes the dangerous Gu he had been holding back on. ch. 890
The Gu breaks, and Tai Bai Yun Sheng laughs that Fang Yuan has found another one. Shark Demon and the others brighten, their morale lifting. Bo Dan concedes a technique’s worth is whether it works, mortal or immortal. ch. 890
Tai Bai Yun Sheng tells them he has long known Xing Xiang Zi’s skill. Fang Yuan pretends greater progress than he has made and claims confidence in unraveling the killer move. Su Bai Man half believes him, but the freezing rain weakens and desolate beast snow monsters begin disintegrating on their own. The immortal zombies’ doubts turn to hope, and their opinion of Fang Yuan changes sharply. ch. 890
Bo Dan smiles outwardly but seethes inside, since Fang Yuan’s success only points up his uselessness. Applying his techniques, he finds he too can see two flaws. He says nothing, biding his time for a counterattack. ch. 890
After the second Gu’s destruction, six or seven flaws stand open. Fang Yuan is not glad of it. The price of these flaws is too high, and Shark Demon and the others do not yet know it; they will feel it only when the next wave comes. Fang Yuan has already spent over ten thousand star thoughts on the deduction. ch. 890
Fang Yuan keeps deducing outwardly but stops acting. He sits with his eyes shut, looking as though still hard at work. Privately, he reasons that a battlefield killer move’s pseudo-blessed land lets mortal methods work freely, but still slows invaders enough that they have not seen Yu Lu blessed land’s true form. He resolves to obtain such killer moves for his blessed lands, defending Star Form once relocated and buying time for Hu Immortal if attacked. ch. 890
Bo Dan, the most anxious there, keeps deducing and finds a spot of hidden mortal Gu that looks safe to destroy for easy progress. He hesitates, wanting to wait until Fang Yuan looks helpless, but fears Fang Yuan might find the same flaw first. He decides to act. ch. 890
Bo Dan announces his progress and destroys the hidden Gu. Shark Demon, favoring his alliance member over an outsider, nods approval. Su Bai Man says the killer move will soon break between the two of them. ch. 890
Fang Yuan then opens his eyes, his expression turning ugly. Prompted by Tai Bai Yun Sheng, he declares this Gu could not be destroyed: it was like a trap, and the battlefield’s offensive power will now rise. He thumps his chest and stomps his feet, playing anger and regret. ch. 890
