Chapter 641

Giant Sun’s will notices the instant Fang Yuan is distracted by his brief exchange with Mo Yao’s will and attacks at that exact moment, showing incredible control over the fight, even sharper than Fang Yuan at seizing an opening. Fang Yuan crashes into the ground with a loud bang, rocks flying and the ground shaking. Giant Sun’s will follows immediately, turning back into a golden sword that stabs again and again, leaving a golden trail in the air. Fang Yuan has no way to resist, but at the crucial moment Mo Yao’s will manipulates Water Pavilion back into liquid armor and saves his life. Mo Yao’s will shouts at him to stand up quickly. Fang Yuan grits his teeth and forces himself up on his one remaining left arm, enduring the impact. He taunts that it is useless, since he has already stored all of Giant Sun’s own immortal essence inside his immortal aperture, laughing in an attempt to break its fighting spirit. The taunt only enrages it further, and its stabs come several times faster than before. Because it has exceeded its own limit, Giant Sun’s will’s thoughts begin destroying themselves too. Mo Yao’s will warns frantically that at this rate her immortal essence is being spent too fast, and urges him to dodge. Fang Yuan refuses, insisting this rare chance is worth enduring. He tells her that even if her immortal essence runs out she can lend him Water Pavilion, since he still holds more than twenty beads of green grape immortal essence of his own. He reasons that Giant Sun’s will, gone half mad, is destroying more of its own thoughts through these reckless attacks than the damage it deals him. Mo Yao’s will hesitates deeply, and the two sides settle into a stalemate, both burning through their resources. ^{ch. 641}

Gu tribe leader Gu Guo Long asks whether they should go and assist the old ancestor. While Fang Yuan fights, Hei Lou Lan has led the others in capturing many Gu worms and rebuilding their strength. It is easy work, since so many Gu worms still remain inside the wind veil while the number of formless hands keeps dropping. With Gu worms of their own again, the group is no longer afraid. Seeing Fang Yuan taking hit after hit from Giant Sun’s will on the ground, Gu Guo Long and other Gu Masters alike want to join the fight. Out of pure survival instinct the Gu worms can only fly further inward, packing so densely that a Gu Master need only reach out beside himself to catch one. Cracks spread across the ground, a sign the area itself is collapsing. Far off, a huge spherical halo forms again around wisdom Gu, which Giant Sun’s will had sent flying earlier and which now seems to sense its own danger of extermination, exerting all its strength to keep every other existence away. All of it points to the same thing: little time is left. Hei Lou Lan decides to wait no longer, nods, and orders everyone to attack together without internal conflict that would weaken their offensive. Just as they are about to strike, Giant Sun’s will suddenly laughs that Fang Yuan has fallen into its trap, and retreats at once. With almost no mass, it pulls back a huge distance in the blink of an eye. Fang Yuan’s pupils shrink as he spots a formless hand grabbing for him and shouts in shock that it is a seven fingered formless hand. It turns out Giant Sun’s will’s whole frenzied assault, even its willingness to destroy its own thoughts, was only meant to seize Fang Yuan’s full attention and blind him to this hand closing in. Lacking immortal essence, Giant Sun’s will cannot use Immortal Gu itself, and it had never actually relied on Hei Lou Lan’s group, planning instead to use the formless hands as an outside weapon. It split off a small portion of itself, carrying several Immortal Gu, to draw the hand near. Since a formless hand moves faster than Giant Sun’s will, it split into ten such wills spaced at intervals, each carrying an Immortal Gu it would destroy the moment the hand drew close. The hand gained nothing each time. It simply moved on to the next Immortal Gu’s aura. Only after Giant Sun’s will had lost eight Immortal Gu this way was the formless hand finally lured all the way in. ^{ch. 641}

Mo Yao’s will screams for him to dodge, but it is already too late. Fang Yuan has already darted away and activated eagle rise Gu, but needs time to accelerate that he does not have before the hand arrives. The hand seizes the rank seven Immortal Gu at Water Pavilion’s core, water harmony Gu, and carries it off. Water Pavilion is made of over three thousand interlinked Gu worms built around that one core, with two supporting Immortal Gu, the rank six movement Immortal Gu Worldly Wave Trace and the wisdom path Immortal Gu Delight in Water and Mountain. Mo Yao’s will screams for it to be destroyed, and what remains of the over three thousand Gu worms, carrying her red date immortal essence, floats around Fang Yuan as he is already giving chase, using every movement Gu he has. Giant Sun’s will snorts and blocks him. Hei Lou Lan and the others see their chance and join the attack to thwart Fang Yuan, prompting Giant Sun’s will to praise their timing, abandon blocking him, and turn into a bright rainbow to attack Fang Yuan directly instead. Fang Yuan does not mind the Gu Masters’ attacks and can resist them with six arm heavenly zombie king, but Giant Sun’s will’s own strikes remain far more dangerous. With Water Pavilion broken, Mo Yao’s will can no longer defend him, and Hei Lou Lan’s group only slows him further. ^{ch. 641}

Giant Sun’s will turns into a monk’s spade and cuts the Gu worms circling Fang Yuan in two, and Mo Yao’s will cries out that her red date immortal essence, already reduced to a handful, is now completely gone. Fang Yuan shouts for her to come into his immortal aperture as he retreats rapidly, and since Giant Sun’s will’s own technique is still unwinding it cannot give chase at once, letting him pull some distance before it flies after him. Fang Yuan asks her to lend him Worldly Wave Trace. With no immortal essence left to lose, she agrees at once. Of the many Immortal Gu he had gathered earlier but never had time to refine, he had only suppressed all but two with his will. The exceptions are Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s Man as Before and Landscape as Before, which he cannot use without Tai Bai Yun Sheng’s own permission. Using a single bead of green grape immortal essence, he activates Worldly Wave Trace, a jellyfish shaped Gu the size of a baby’s fist, and a huge wave carries him away beneath his feet, pulling distance from Giant Sun’s will. Though he is not a water path Gu Immortal, his rank six cultivation lets him activate the rank six Immortal Gu fully, and for the first time since the battle began he manages to shake Giant Sun’s will off. ^{ch. 641}

Giant Sun’s will only snickers, warning that although it could not touch him in the outside world, the shrinking space inside the wind veil will let it catch him eventually. He answers that if he dies he will drag them all down with him. Giant Sun’s will only dares him to keep fighting and gives chase with menacing intent, though it still cannot catch him. Fang Yuan does not dare fight it directly, since without Water Pavilion to shield his mind, exposing any weakness would let Giant Sun’s will invade his thoughts again and leave him helpless.
