Chapter 510

Wang Jiang smashes into Tang Fang. He shouts that he will repay an old humiliation to Tang tribe twofold. Tang Fang answers with fire pellet Gu, but Wang Jiang simply opens his mouth and swallows the fireball whole with a rank four swallow fire Gu, a storage Gu he bought at great cost specifically to use as a weapon against Tang tribe. Two more rank three Gu Masters rush in to back Wang Jiang, leaving Tang Fang and his one remaining elder badly outnumbered. ^{ch. 510}

The elder holds the three off with a rare rank three Gu called slow steps, which temporarily slows a target’s speed. He orders Tang Fang to flee for reinforcements. Freed of pursuit, Wang Jiang’s group turns on the elder instead, striking him down with a punch, severing his arm with a wind blade, and finally freezing him solid. Tang Fang returns with reinforcements only to collect the elder’s corpse, his enemies already gone and his hatred with nowhere to land. ^{ch. 510}

Across the wider field, wolves, foxes, war crabs and bats collide under every kind of elemental attack, a chaotic battle stretching over a range of thousands of miles. Water Demon Hao Ji Liu clears a stretch of ground with a single towering wave. He then turns his gaze on Tang Fang’s cluster of survivors, the largest group left and so the richest in battle merit, and unleashes a rank four waterfall Gu against them, an enormous surging torrent. Several Tang tribe elders throw themselves in front of the torrent to hold it back, urging Tang Fang to run; he finally does, vowing to bring back his father. Hao Ji Liu kills the elders over a dozen or so exchanges. Only one is left standing. ^{ch. 510}

Sensing a sudden killing intent, Hao Ji Liu abandons that last kill and retreats without even looking, and a returning four-leaf wind blade cuts past the spot he had just left, slicing through anything, human or beast, in its long arc. The blade belongs to Wind Demon Tan Wu Feng, once as feared in the west as Hao Ji Liu was in the east. Dong Fang Yu Liang’s three escapements scheme bound him into service. Tan Wu Feng says his lord has ordered Water Demon’s death, and the two rank four upper stage experts duel in a battle ring of their own. The same pattern echoes across the field as every other rank four expert pairs off the same way, with rank three fights ringed around them and rank one and two skirmishes further out still. ^{ch. 510}

Fang Yuan uses the lull to regroup his wolves as the two main armies lock into a deadlock, each waiting on its elite troops to tip the balance. Hei Lou Lan fields five divisions against Dong Fang Yu Liang’s six. Dong Fang Yu Liang opens with Hua tribe’s healers, the hundred blossoms troop, and when Hei Lou Lan’s five-hundred-strong blue butterfly troop nearly breaks through to them, three more of his troops close in from east, south and west in a prepared ambush. Hei Lou Lan feeds in reinforcements of his own until both sides lock into another standoff. ^{ch. 510}

Dong Fang She, commander of Dong Fang tribe’s feather arrow elite troop, begs to be sent in and is refused. Dong Fang Yu Liang tells him events are still unfolding as planned. He turns instead to three enslavement path Gu Masters, E Xuan Ming, Wei Xin and Jiang Wan Shan, telling them it is time to show their strength. ^{ch. 510}
