Go die, go die
Zheng tribe leader rushes to the front and orders the lightning spears readied as Fang Yuan’s wolves break through two defensive lines in moments, only to be stopped at the third by Zheng tribe’s renowned lightning spear corps. Five hundred and eighty condensed lightning spears fly together on his order, killing over five hundred wolves and thinning the charge, and Zheng tribe’s Gu Masters cheer while the Ge tribesmen pale. ch. 480
Zheng tribe leader amplifies his voice to accuse Chang Shan Yin of invading without cause and warns that all northern plains will brand Ge tribe outlaws unless he retreats. Ge tribe’s elders know the accusation is fair, since the alliance had not yet acted and their attack breaks the northern plains custom of fighting only for a proper reason, but Fang Yuan’s strength and prestige keep them from voicing open opposition. ch. 480
Fang Yuan studies the lightning spear corps and marks its real strength as the hundred or so hidden support Gu Masters who amplify and condense the spears behind five hundred offensive fighters. His night wolf myriad beast king and turtleback myriad wolf king are both battered from forcing the third line; the turtleback king fares better, but the night wolf king’s defense Gu has died and its wounds run deep enough to show bone. Wolf smoke Gu heals most of the damage, but the night wolf king’s strength still drops by a level. ch. 480
Retreat, in Fang Yuan’s judgment, would only invite pursuit. He orders every Ge tribesman to fight to the death, promising execution for anyone who retreats a step. He then reveals the wind wolf myriad wolf king, a third force he had kept hidden even during the attack on Bei tribe, and sends all three wolf kings forward together. ch. 480
Zheng tribe leader answers with the killer move Thunder Bird, fusing three Gu worms into a giant lightning bird that pins the turtleback wolf king, while hundreds of his Gu Masters combine their lightning spears into a lightning snake armed in turn with eagle claw Gu, rhino horn Gu and silver scales Gu to form Gold and Silver Lightning Dragon, a killer move built from hundreds of Gu Masters together, which halts the wind wolf king. With both wolf kings blocked, Fang Yuan drives the wounded, defenseless night wolf myriad beast king into a crazed assault of its own. ch. 480
Zheng tribe’s Gu Masters throw themselves at it to protect their families, and one rank three elder pierces both its eyes with his bare hands and dies smiling as it bites him in two, but their sacrifice comes at the cost of their own corps: fewer than one in ten of the lightning spear fighters survive the night wolf king’s fury. Fang Yuan senses the wolf’s desire to flee the pain, and forces it onward. With the lightning spear corps broken, Ge tribe’s Gu Masters pour through the opening, the wind wolf king breaks free once Gold and Silver Lightning Dragon dissipates and turns on Zheng tribe’s elders, and the wolf group floods the camp, killing the old, the weak, women and children without mercy. Fang Yuan watches expressionlessly, saying that more deaths mean more souls for him, and secretly works his storage Gu. ch. 480
