Wu Shuai's Political Skills
The Gu Immortals of the two heavens lower their heads before Wu Shuai’s aggressive stance. Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch cheers inwardly, expecting Wu Shuai to lose everyone’s support. He then urges the alliance to chase the remaining Xia clan members, most of whom have escaped in Whale Fishing Boat. The immortals nod, grateful for a way out of their embarrassment. ch. 1984
Wu Shuai laughs and refuses. The alliance won by acting quickly and catching Xia clan off guard, and the righteous paths will now be very cautious. If the Xia clan survivors flee, they will bring Eastern Sea’s righteous path out of its territories to recover the land, and its members will come here to seek death. The immortals agree. Wu Shuai adds grimly that he is wary only of Qi Sea Ancestor, who aided neither Fang Yuan nor Heavenly Court in the fate war and whose stance is very important. Letting the survivors go is also a probe of that stance. ch. 1984
Wu Shuai then calls for the loot of Xia clan to be split, and each Gu Immortal gains a considerable sum. The immortals of the two heavens are extremely happy, though surprised that Wu Shuai takes a much smaller portion than expected. Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch says it is unfair that Lord Alliance Leader, who guided the victory, takes the least. Wu Shuai answers that he is a lone person who needs few resources. He will not take back what is already distributed. As vice alliance leader, though, Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch should not get the same as the other allies, so Wu Shuai gives him shooting fish sea. ch. 1984
Wu Shuai promises to take care of anyone who makes problems for his vice leader, and the other Gu Immortals turn away from his dragon eyes. Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch gains a giant resource point but feels no joy. His protest was meant to cost Wu Shuai more support, but he realizes Wu Shuai has turned it so the others think the vice leader wants more benefits through the alliance leader’s dominance. Wu Shuai asks why Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch is not thanking him. Gritting his teeth, Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch thanks Lord Alliance Leader in a hoarse voice. ch. 1984
Seeing him submit, Wu Shuai is disappointed rather than happy. Long secluded and kept from competing by their identities, the Gu Immortals of the two heavens have not been trained well. Only Ice Crystal Immortal Monarch has passable battle strength and attitude, and the rest of the rank eights are a disgrace. ch. 1984
