Situation

In Dragon Palace in Eastern Sea, Fang Yuan’s clone Wu Shuai sits on his dragon throne and manipulates over a hundred million army ants circling the sky. He blows ten feathers of the immemorial desolate beast corpse emperor bird, a rank eight immortal material, into the swarm. The ants devour them completely and produce corpse ants that emit death energy and grow stronger by eating the corpses of army ants. The strongest corpse ant can match a king ant but not a queen ant. Wu Shuai concludes that corpse ants make the army more durable and save cost. ch. 1879

The army ants hold the essence of enslavement path, and feeding them keeps their numbers up and can create new breeds. Yet the army ants merely ease enslavement path’s weakness and cannot eliminate it. Grown able to fight rank eight Gu Immortals, the ant army has become a heavy burden on Wu Shuai, a bottomless hole in expenditure. He reckons the ant army would not have grown so large without the help of Gu tribe and the merfolk. ch. 1879

Tang Qiong, a yellow scaled mermaid, represents a portion of the Merman Imperial Court’s will and arrives at Dragon Palace. Wu Shuai invites her in. She says Qi Sea Ancestor is holding a banquet for the whole Eastern Sea Gu Immortal world, and her grand elder asks whether Wu Shuai will go with them. Fang Yuan’s plan includes this banquet, but he did not invite Wu Shuai because he wants to conceal him for now. The invitation shows Wu Shuai that the merfolk really want closer ties with dragonmen, lacking a rank eight Immortal Gu House while Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable’s protection fades. ch. 1879

Tang Qiong says Qi Sea Ancestor has announced that Fang Yuan, being no Eastern Sea Gu Immortal, will not be invited. Wu Shuai agrees. Inviting Fang Yuan would defy Heavenly Court, and Eastern Sea Gu Immortals who fear it might stay away. Qi Sea Ancestor has also just stripped Duke Long of half a Primordial Origin true inheritance. ch. 1879

Tang Qiong urges that Wu Shuai and Fang Yuan are not the same, that Fang Yuan is ruthless and hard to read, and that dragonmen should become a force of their own. Wu Shuai answers that he will remember her tribe’s sincerity, but it is not yet time for dragonmen to reappear. If he joined the banquet, Heavenly Court would grow wary and might act. She adds that, by her tribe’s deductions, Qi Sea Ancestor is a lone cultivator who likely wants to stay neutral and would welcome him. Wu Shuai asks for time, and she leaves. ch. 1879

Wu Shuai finds the merfolk’s attitude very beneficial to Fang Yuan’s plans. It is also the Eastern Sea Gu Immortal world’s attitude towards the banquet. Fang Yuan cannot unite that world with one identity, so he aims to make Qi Sea Ancestor’s actions greatly affect its choices against Heavenly Court. ch. 1879

In Western Desert, Fang Di Chang, another clone of Fang Yuan, ends a meeting of the super forces he called after leading five allied clans to a claimed defeat of Heavenly Court. It goes badly: some forces suspect Fang clan’s victory, only the four allied clans are sincere, and the rest send insignificant members. Fang Gong is angry. Fang Di Chang says Heavenly Court retreated safely and lost one rank eight because of Thousand Transformations Ancestor, and the claimed defeat was merely publicization. Fang clan rose too abruptly, with no actual victory or true authority, and he suspects Heavenly Court of sowing discord too. Fang Gong wants to see what these people do when Central Continent attacks, and Fang Di Chang sighs that grudges and interests keep them from working together without a life-and-death crisis. ch. 1879
