Am I, Suan Bu Jin, Such a Person?

At Fang clan headquarters, a crescent shaped wisdom path Gu formation shines on the Immortal Gu House Divine Bean Palace with little effect. Two Gu Immortals come out: second supreme elder Fang Di Chang and Fang Yuan in his disguise as Suan Bu Jin. Fang Yuan sighs that the palace feels like a living creature. They can barely make a dent in it. He names it Genesis Lotus Immortal Venerable’s style, recalling that records credit that venerable with the most abundant immortal essence and highest recovery. Since wisdom path Gu Immortals will find a wood path house very difficult, he suggests inviting wood path experts. ch. 1856

Fang Di Chang has tried, but wood path is rare in Western Desert, and the other super clans are jointly obstructing Fang clan now that news of the palace is exposed. Heavenly Court has offered help. Duke Long would send wood path Gu Immortals to retrieve the palace, write off past conflicts and give countless resources. Fang Yuan answers that Heavenly Court is indulging in wishful thinking, since no resources compare to a rank eight Immortal Gu House. First supreme elder Fang Gong, rank eight, joins them and has a welcome banquet ready. ch. 1856

Privately Fang Yuan judges that Fang clan is under so much pressure that it asked for his help, and that he can extort benefits from it. He is also conspiring to seize the palace, and he secretly caused the clan’s troubles. In the previous life, without his interference, Fang clan resolved its predicament alone, though it seems not to have refined the palace even by the Refinement Path Convention. At the banquet he promises on the spot to use all his strength. ch. 1856

In the following days Fang Yuan helps Fang Di Chang refine the palace through the formation. It restores itself and repels infiltration, so progress of ten today is reduced to three or four tomorrow. Fang Yuan hides part of his strength. Fang Di Chang, a wisdom path great grandmaster a level above Fang Yuan, spends all his strength each time, and that exhaustion is what lets Fang Yuan’s scheme succeed. Both men’s stubborn effort still piles up quite a bit of progress. Fang Yuan thinks the forceful refinement has hope, but the immortal essence it costs will be huge. ch. 1856

Judging the moment right, he stops one day and does not appear in time. Fang Di Chang asks anxiously whether he is injured, and Fang Yuan coughs that it is not serious, but his immortal essence reserves suffered a huge loss and he may not persevere. Fang Di Chang is alarmed, since the progress would be lost rapidly without daily effort. Fang Yuan mentions the agreement from when they fought for Divine Bean Palace. Fang Di Chang understands, apologizes that the promised Immortal Gu is long overdue, and offers any Immortal Gu he names. ch. 1856

Fang Yuan says Fang Di Chang misunderstood. Fang Di Chang thinks Suan Bu Jin is an ambitious man playing the same trick as before, when he made an offer and took away great thief Immortal Gu. He wants to slap this greedy man but restrains himself, because he needs the help. He insists on giving an Immortal Gu, and Fang Yuan keeps rejecting it firmly. Sensing a bigger scheme, Fang Di Chang tells him to speak his thoughts. ch. 1856

Fang Yuan says righteously that he is a member of Fang clan and would not extort it, asking whether Suan Bu Jin is such a person. He needs no Immortal Gu, since the earlier reward was too big. He says only that he has some interest in Thieving Heaven Demon Venerable’s theft path true inheritance and wants to look at its contents, and Fang Di Chang may forget it if this is too much. Fang Di Chang’s expression changes, and he glares and curses in his head that the target was his clan’s Thieving Heaven true inheritance all along, such huge guts. ch. 1856
