Food Path Immortal Gu Snack
Fang Yuan holds Snack, a rank six food path Immortal Gu, in his palm. Its green body is split into six caterpillar segments. It is one of three Immortal Gu that Lang Ya Sect completed for him after Purple Mountain True Monarch’s inheritance, alongside rank seven Self Love and rank six Cleanse Soul. Self Love is very useful to him, the core of self cleansing that lets him evade Heavenly Court’s investigative methods. Cleanse Soul was the hardest of the three to refine, but it undoes the soul path trap on his eight arm immortal zombie body and restores his use of the light of wisdom. Snack’s recipe traces to Shadow Sect, Fang Yuan’s great enemy: Spectral Soul Demon Venerable took it from the beastman Gu Immortal who created food path, killing him for it. After injecting red date immortal essence, Snack’s body shakes, turns red then lava-colored, thickens, and spits out sticky yellowish liquid before shriveling pale. The liquid floats and can replace part of an Immortal Gu’s food, about six percent per use for rank six targets and less for rank seven, up to a limit of forty percent overall. Snack needs time to heal after each use, continuous use beyond that kills it, and only once it is green again can it be activated. Fang Yuan tests the liquid on an Immortal Gu, and it succeeds. Refining Snack took him only five attempts, a huge surprise against Cleanse Soul’s many failed tries. With his huge number of Immortal Gu, Snack now eases a huge burden and holds huge value to him. ch. 1457
A few days later, Fang Yuan buys light shine fungi from treasure yellow heaven, a green fungal lawn living on coral deep in Eastern Sea, where it gives off intense light in total darkness. Fang Yuan once tried to buy some at an Eastern Sea auction, but Tong Hua would only trade, not sell. She later sold her stock in treasure yellow heaven instead, its price falling as buyers who were initially very interested learned it is most suited to the completely dark deep sea, under immense water pressure. Outside that habitat the fungi do not die, but shrivel to a weak light. Fang Yuan buys all of her remaining stock at the lowest price, placing a portion in Mini Eastern Sea and experimenting on the rest. He is confident despite his ordinary wood path attainment, backed by Shadow Sect’s and Lang Ya Sect’s methods and, failing those, the light of wisdom. ch. 1457
