The Bronze Skin Gu is a defensive skin-series Gu. When activated it makes the user's body glow yellow and greatly raises skin defense.
In the academy Gu storage room, Fang Yuan finds a Bronze Skin Gu in a bronze bowl: a common pick for close-combat Gu Masters, and the academy martial arts instructor raises one. Gu Yue Fang Zheng chooses it as his second Gu because he already has Moonlight Gu for offense and wants a defensive-type Gu. ch. 62 ch. 63
Appearance
In the academy storage room it looks like a bedbug, flat and wide with a small head and an oval body. It is yellow-orange throughout, and it emits a faint bronze-like glow. ch. 62

It belongs to the same skin series as Stone Skin Gu (also called Rock Skin Gu), Iron Skin Gu, Beast Skin Gu, and Jade Skin Gu: similar appearance and similar defense effects, with large value gaps between members. ch. 62
Effect
Once activated, it causes the body to glow yellow and greatly raises defense. ch. 62 Gu Yue Bo later compares Jade Skin Gu to it as stronger defense for less primeval essence. ch. 63
Fang Yuan, facing a small beehive while hunting, notes that with a Bronze Skin Gu he could risk bee stings to collect honey for Bear Strength Gu feed, and regrets not having one. ch. 65
Early users and naming
Gu Yue Fang Zheng reports the choice to Gu Yue Bo, who praises Bronze Skin Gu paired with Moonlight Gu as offense and defense together, calling that the king’s path. ch. 63
The academy martial arts instructor is covered in bronze skin from a copper skin Gu that toughens skin and raises defense. ch. 24 The instructor’s Gu is Bronze Skin Gu. ch. 62
The same day Gu Yue Bo promises Jade Skin Gu if Fang Zheng is first to rank two, and places that Jade Skin Gu in Fang Zheng’s hand as the advancement reward. ch. 63 Later academy scenes show Fang Zheng activating Jade Skin Gu in the arena against Fang Yuan, then following a Moonlight Gu and Jade Skin Gu fusion line toward Moon Raiment and Moonlight Treasure King Gu. Rank two and three use
During the Shang clan city stretch, Fang Yuan has already used rank three Bronze Skin Gu over those months as a permanent skin defense layer. The text does not name an earlier chapter where he first buys or refines that rank three worm. Bronze Skin Gu at rank two only raises skin defense for a limited time. Bronze Skin Gu at rank three uses the Gu Master’s own body and grants that skin defense permanently; Fang Yuan’s skin is bronze-coloured after that use, like a deep tan. He stacks it with iron bones, steel tendon, and golden shield Gu as his defense kit there. ch. 301 Later inventory wording also calls Fang Yuan’s rank three body Gu copper skin Gu beside iron bone Gu and steel tendon Gu. ch. 345
In later fights that same bronze skin layer is part of the combo that lets him take heavy hits with little real harm at first, and it can still be lacerated under enough force. ch. 316 ch. 317
Series advance
Bronze Skin Gu is a series from rank one to rank three. Advancing it to rank four yields Ancient Bronze Skin Gu, whose defense is much stronger than rank three Bronze Skin Gu. When activated, ancient bronze skin Gu remodels the Gu Master’s skin and flesh into ancient bronze skin. Soaking in bronze liquid while activating it shortens that remodeling by about thirty percent. ch. 354
