Wu Ba Chong

Qiao Si Liu reports that he has already gathered supreme elders and left Wu Yi Hai out. In the discussion hall he slams the table after taking Wu Yong’s seat, then faces Wu Qiao’s challenge that life tablet Gu and soul lantern Gu alone cannot prove Wu Yong dead. Allies speak up for him as second supreme elder while Fang Yuan later judges that his step back was brilliant. ^{ch. 1343}

With the main seat empty he sits to the side as second supreme elder, silent and observing, heavy hearted yet a bit smug. He stops the arguing and, under anxious gazes, sighs that they should ask Lord Wu Yi Hai to make the decision. ^{ch. 1345}

Later narration restates that he sits as second supreme elder with the highest seniority, is steady, and dares to take responsibility. When every large force created difficulties for Wu clan he came forward to stabilize the situation, and he is a core member. He hears Wu Yong’s ambition, kneels, and swears to follow for Wu clan’s grand ambition. ^{ch. 2066} Wu Yong lifts him with formless wind and says that with his help there is nothing to worry about. Wu Ba Chong pledges wholehearted allegiance, privately judging Wu Yong above even Wu Du Xiu, and is left to guard headquarters while Wu Yong hunts the Fierce Gorge Seven Ghosts. ^{ch. 2067}

When Ke Xin Hong arrives at Wu Yi Mountain, Wu Ba Chong flies up first to welcome him as second supreme elder, leads him into headquarters, and later into the guest hall. He first denies that Wu clan has Hu Land, then stops when Wu Yong cuts him off with “Ba Chong,” and later erupts again at the exchange terms before being ordered to hand over Hu Land and fan wind Gu. ^{ch. 2134}
