Lightning lycan

Character in Reverend Insanity

Alive

The lightning lycan is the myriad beast king that replaces a misidentified thunder crown wolf at the climax of the Qing Mao Mountain wolf tide, with human-level intelligence and command over lightning wolf packs.

On Qing Mao Mountain, during the stand between Gu Yue Bo and the Bai clan leader, Bai clan leader first doubts that the arriving beast is a thunder crown wolf, and Fang Yuan names it a lightning lycan. Five tigers make one lamassu, three hounds one molossus, and ten wolves one lycan; a lycan is a wolf type far smarter than ordinary wolves and usually the strategist of a pack, and this one looks like a thunder crown wolf yet is a true myriad beast king with intelligence no less than men. It is weaker than an ordinary thunder crown wolf in raw body strength, but more dangerous because it can command a huge lightning wolf army, which Fang Yuan ties to the Xiong clan’s destruction. ch. 168

Appearance

It seems like a thunder crown wolf in appearance. Its hind legs are developed, but its forelegs are smaller, with shrunken muscles, so it only uses the back legs when running and jumps forward like a kangaroo. It opens a huge mouth, and its wolf fangs are sharp as a dagger. In smoke it becomes as small as a normal lightning wolf and hides among the pack. ch. 168

Wolf smoke assault

It opens with rank four Wolf Smoke Gu, a black ball that explodes into thick smoke covering over a hundred li, then strikes Fang Yuan through that smoke with a lightning bolt that kills Thunder Shield Gu and heavily injures Thunderwings Gu and Sky Canopy Gu at rank four power. Inside the smoke it shrinks to ordinary lightning wolf size, hides among the packs, surrounds the Gu Masters from the rear, and sneak-attacks when the two clan leaders try to organize a joint breakout. ch. 168

Driven off

After the elders die in the smoke, only the two rank four clan leaders remain against it. It keeps deep bone-visible wounds, refuses a dying counterattack, and sends ordinary lightning wolves forward instead. Tie Xue Leng arrives, weakens the packs with Righteous Gu, and uses rank five Ironfist Grappling Gu; the lycan dodges, then collides when locked, shattering the iron hand while nearly shattering its own bones, then flees rather than fight him again. ch. 170

Tide aftermath

Tie Xue Leng tells Gu Yue Bo the lycan was heavily injured, that lightning wolves were greatly damaged, and that they will not attack for the next few years. It returns to the wolf den to recuperate and reorganize remaining wolves while pack food need falls. ch. 171 ch. 172

Xiong clan compensation talk

Gu Yue elder talk later credits the joint Gu Yue and Bai settlement of the lightning lycan problem when weighing compensation from Xiong clan. ch. 175

Road recollection

A later road stretch still treats the lightning lycan as the exceptional wild beast with human intelligence among species of limited wit. ch. 203
